pb, you might appreciate this story - Gambino was waked at a funeral home near his house in Brooklyn. It was a weekend (I THINK it was Saturday night) and my ex and I had some company come over to our apartment. Our guests were from out of town and wanted to try some authentic Brooklyn Italian food so I and my guy friend went out to get some food while the ladies stayed in the apartment. I drove to Carolina Restaurant in Coney Island - about a ½ mile from the funeral home. The restaurant was absolutely mobbed (no pun intended) so we went over to Spumoni Gardens, a short distance away, to find it even more crowded there. All because of the mourners in the neighborhood.

Ended up getting Chinese food back in Midwood. lol

That's a GREAT story, and obviously very familiar to me because it never fails. When you have a high profile funeral (or any "big" funeral, for that matter), every gin mill within a short radius of the funeral home gets busy. You can set your watch by it.

And to be honest, years ago most of the small, cozy, family owned funeral parlors would steer their mourners in the direction of certain bars and restaurants. Sometimes for a price, of course lol.
