Anybody who can share pictures and intel on different Mob-connected social clubs? I'd love footage of the ''Old Neighborhood Italian American''-Social Club, seeing that they nearly spent $2mill on building it. I tried googling it, but only found outside footage.

Also, I figure drinks are on the house and crew members are ''members'' of the club for free, how do they make money on a social club? Do they just use it as a Laundry for dirty cash? You're buying way too much into the image you see on television, Johnny. If you ever walked into one of those clubs you'd be terribly disappointed.

Most of them are gone anyway. When I was growing up in the '60s and '70s there were literally dozens of clubs in the East Bronx. Today you can count them on one hand. And the clubs that are still operating aren't nearly as accessible as they used to be.

That part of the life is over, and it's never coming back.

Pb, thats hilarious... Its also true. Most mobsters spend half their time scheming and the other half complaining about who owes them money. Social clubs were where the neighborhood guys hung out. Unfortunately or fortunately, those hoods no longer exist. A guy living in a 700k home in suburban Westchester who is sitting next to a warm fireplace watching a football game is not going to want to hop into his cadillac and head to east harlem to hang out in a some old store front club and play cards with a bunch of guys who still think its 1975.

Some people join different gangs and become gangster because they like the rush and the old school resemblance. I think that there are some rich gangsters who hangs around these clubs often just to play cards and listen to the wisecrack. Think of Tony Soprano for instance, he'd kill himself if he had to spend more than two hours with Carmela and the kids, and I think that goes for a lot of these guys.

My grandfather up until he passed away would stop down “the club” every day. He would play his numbers, go to the cemetery, stop by the chapel at Saint Raphael’s hospital (now yale) or Our Lady Of Mount Carmel then the club before going home to see Carlo Rossi.
