@binnie: his granddaughters story is also collaborated buy one of his nephews that's says he remember al capone being in a meeting with the top guys from chicago, also In his grandmother's book she has pictures of him and he looks rather healthy, the famous quote from jake guzik saying al is nuttier than a fruitcake was taking out of context, he was really making fun of the reporters because that's what they was reporting

@toodoped: mobsters have reported ricca didnt have a big voice in capone day, capone kept guys in line, nobody would have the balls to try and kill capone and capone always kept bodyguards with him so it would have been hard Not if the bodyguards felt the same way.Frank Rio was in charge for Capones safety and later after Al's conviction he was very close to Nitri,Campagna and Ricca. There are many examples in mobs history where the bosses are being killed by their own bodyguards

Up until capone was released from alcatraz he was in sound mind, his syphilis was in check, he was taking his medication and he also was working out a few times a week, but when they released him from alcatraz and sent him to terminal island for a questionable experimental treatment for his syphilis, that's why he started to loose it, they pumped him full of mercury and that's what did the damage to his brain

Capone's medical records show he was close to being certified as insane during his last years at Alcatraz. His mental state did not improve after that.

That had to have been before he started taking his meds, in his granddaughters book she published personal hand written letters in his last year's of alcatraz and the letters was coherent Don't put all your eggs in one basket made from a relative's viewpoint. There are MANY medical reports (certified) by doctors who treated Capone and they show that Big Al was clearly touched as early as the middle of his confinement at Alcatraz.
