In your initial post you said that your uncle got the Purple Gang rolling. Which is it?
As far as being their "source for heroin," the Purple Gang's beginnings in the heroin trade pre-date your uncle by ten years, all the way back to Vinny Papa and Fat Gigi.
He went to Lewisburg in '86 but when the guys he got started got pinched the Feds tried to get him on the Blue Thunder case as well.
