This is obviously a touchy subject but this just seems ridiculous. Child abuse, really?? Fucking joke. Did you see the cuts on the poor kid?

My interest in professional sports has been waning. Among the reasons: The Thug-nature of teams, the excessive amount and time of commercials, the multiple replays of almost every play, the referee reviews, the "ground caused the fumble" (what caused the player to hit the ground?), the slow-motion analysis, and many more. The excitement of the game is lost. It has now become a scientific, hi-tech presentation of a game that should be played in real-time with real people. The hybrid techno-game has lost its appeal for me.

For me, it's the over saturation of the product -- moving the draft to May, for instance.
Then there's Thursday Night Football. More often than not, it's a mediocre game with both teams coming on four days rest. Last night's Falcons/Buccaneers debacle epitomizes this. Roger Goodell's greed has oversaturated the NFL. The first rule of show business, of which the NFL certainly qualifies, is to leave the audience wanting more. How can you do that when the NFL is on Monday night, Thursday night, Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening, and then Saturdays at season's end? Throw in the ridiculous London games, the draft being dragged out for days, the combine, and then the 24/7 NFL Police Blotter... There's too much of a good thing. Throw in some of these ridiculous rule changes to significantly favor the offense and it all adds up to more and more fans getting turned off. It wasn't broken before, so I'm not sure why Goodell has felt the need to tinker with it so much.

And if Goodell gets his way, the season will be extended to 18 games and culminate in a President's Day Weekend Super Bowl. And by sheer coincidence (cough), that's one of the busiest weekends of the year in Las Vegas . Back on track with week 3: Gino Smith sucks. He might be a little bit better than Mark Sanchez. But Sanchez has a shot to go deep into the playoffs as a backup this year. And he's better off.

Goodell's troubles in the past few years (Bountygate, Rice, marijuana, Peterson, and other dom violence players) will bite him here. Players don't want more opportunities for injury. Plus, isn't the NBA All-Star Weekend always around President's Day? I can't see the NBA standing idly by if the NFL tries to move in.

I am not really into American football anymore. But losing your job over domestic violence? Does that happen in any other real World jobs? There is another incident that just happened in soccer. The female US national team soccer keeper Hope Solo goes home I guess she is a little high. Has a fight with her 17 year old brother. It gets crazy out of hand. She is a big girl cute too She starts to beat up her brother they are fighting now you know with fists. He freaks and hits her in her head with a wooden stick. Breaks it over her head punches her and finally point a bb gun at her. Mother try's to intervene hope raps her in the mouth. Those idiots call the cops. Cops come they only arrest hope but not her brother. This was NYC they would have arrested them both. Now the liberal pussies wants to ban her from playing soccer for the national team. I remember once my daughter the communist that lives in Berlin now had a fight with her younger brother. It got a little out of hand. I watched the fight for a while my youngest son was much bigger then her. But I taught her how to fight to win. When I saw she was getting close to putting him to sleep I stopped it. My youngest son now is a black belt in BJJ and teaches and fights in tournaments all over the world Maybe the liberal pussies should take away their jobs so they could not work any more?

I think you're missing the bigger picture about what the Rice case represents. Forget for a minute that he's an NFL player and let's say his name is John Smith, who is just an ordinary citizen. And he is videotaped doing exactly what Ray Rice does by knocking a woman unconscious. Is there any doubt the guy is arrested? No. Since he's not in the NFL and making millions, the guy sits in jail because he can't post bond (most likely) for a few weeks if not until trial. What employer is not going to fire the guy - maybe not for the DV itself but for missing work? I would say 99% of legitimate employers would fire this guy after missing 3-5 days, particularly if there was no timetable for his return to work.

football has come a long ways since I was kid, my dad took me to my first nfl game when I was 8. it was 75cts to get in. had a seat so close you could hear the players, and when it was over you could walk on the field and talk to them, of course this was the LA rams in 1951, it was football then. the nfl was close to the fans in those days. it wasn't a corporate giant then. and parking was free, nowadays it cost you 30 bucks to park, 100 bucks for one to get in, 12 bucks for a beer, and the players act like their gods, pee on todays nfl.

I played football when I was a kid. First we played football on the street no equipment loved playing in the snow. I started playing football before I started to play soccer. I loved football because I was good at tackling people. Plus I could give the like to hurt people side of my personality free reign. I had no money to buy equipment then I found a place mauer's house of sports in the Bronx. Equipment was cheap and he always gave you free stuff I remember him looking like Mickey Mantle. Then the kids from different blocks played each other. I played with the Hun 9 street guy. We played against the Hun 8 street guys they all grew up to be future gangsters. A Lot of them were in the Red Wings youth gang. We played a lot they were older then us. When they played other block they wanted me to play with them. Then they played a Hun 16 mets some people there. My friend John some how got hooked up with them just playing football. He got me to play for them organized football in the BUA league. The coach was a guy named Ponzo the brother of Johnny delightful who own delightful's had a fight with ponzo punched him in the face for some reason. Then me and John played for a team in the Bronx Black Knights. Like those guys Then played for the Mt. Vernon bears they were the best team in the league. They I wanted me after we played against them and I did a job on one f their players. I fucked him all up. I might have even stabbed him with a pen knife in a pile up Then after went to Orlando Florida to play for the Orlando panthers continental foot ball league. Adult league was like a farm league for former and future NFL players. Man they were a dirty team that is what I liked about them. Even stole their equipment. Man Orlando was red neck back then. Go in a bar they find out I was from NYC everyone wanted to fight. I would oblige them because I loved to fight. But when you start to walk around from games and fights totally black and blue it did get to be a pain in the ass. When I was a kid never went to a pro game because I did not have a pot to piss in. But I would cut out football picture that they printed in the daily news and made scrap books out of those pictures.

Having said that, my wife just informed me that she got that football ticket package on direct TV so that now we can watch every game !!! I used to be a raving lonatick over football and go to as many games as possible but like Marycas, my interest is waning. Wish they could eliminate the thugs and the braided hair which often covers the players name. And yes- the NFL gas gotten way too greedy

What I dont like about pro football and for that matter college and HS. Coach tries to think for the team. Quarterback can call his own plays not even audibles anymore. Like their coaches are so much smarter then them. I was watching a game being played at my local field. I see a ton of space before the play starts that can be attacked if the quarterback saw it and if the coach would let him audible at the line of scrimmage. Now I am talking with a few of those kids fathers. I pointing that space out to them. I told them to bad they don't let your kids think for themselves. It used to be a receiver would tell a quarterback he can eat his man for breakfast on a slant over the middle. The coach won't even let the kids do that anymore. So I go to the coach he is busy like I give a shit. I started to point the exposed space out to him. I told him work with them in practice on calling audibles. Then I left I wonder if the jerk off even heard what I was saying. Those kids would have more fun playing soccer.
