I never really believed the story about Desimone trying to getting it on with Hill's wife. Hill said that quite a long time after his book and the movie came out, he was probably trying to get back into interest by making some stories up. He usually told some pretty strange tales when he appeared on Howard Stern too. I agree. And coincidentally, I just touched on that fairly recently: http://www.gangsterbb.net/threads/ubbthr...true#Post783880Either way, I don't think Paulie gave two shits if Tommy was killed. I doubt he even gave one shit .

Those who were killed were part of Burke's crew, not Vario's. Big Paul wouldn't care as long as he was making money off of it. "The Heist," a very readable account of Lufthansa by Ernest Volkman and John Cummings, agrees with you, SC. A great read. Highly reccomend

It's different in every situation. Plenty of associates reported directly to capos and sometimes even bosses. I understand that. But they're the exception, not the rule. And that's what I was trying to point out to Simon. He's not American, and he's new to this stuff. And he was under the impression that associates always report to a skipper. They don't. Like you pointed out, it does happen. But it's not very common.
