Who did Galante actually give the green light on? People/news articles always are saying how he had hit guys in other families but you never really get names or from which families. Aside from the Genovese story which is hard to believe can anyone shed some light on this for me...

That 7 guys from Genovese is BS but he did kill at least 1 Genovese capo, not sure of his name tho but he was a big smack dealer
He also hit Andimo Pappadio who was in the Lucchese administration and another big dope dealer .
I also heard he hit a Gambino soldier
There was a lot of internal pressure for the bosses to kill Galante, especially Genovese and Lucchese , that combined with Galante greed did him in but IMO the hits was the big driver . He killed some real heavies that were also huge earners who had a lot of respect in LCN circles , again mainly Genovese and Lucchese .
Galante early retirement was 100% his own doing , if he had some more brains he really could have had some great remaining years as he was so insulated from law enforcement. Thx DB!

@ DB, the Genovese Capo you are thinking of is Pat Eboli, brother to Tommy Eboli.
Pat disappeared in 1976. Can't say for certain that Galante was behind it, but the rumor is that either Salvatore "Toto" Catalano or Baldassare "Baldo" Amato told the Genovese crime family, that Carmine was involved in Eboli's disappearance some time in the spring of 79'. Anthony "Tony Ducks" Corallo boss of the Lucchese crime family, felt that Galante was behind Andimo Pappadio's murder in 76'. Both Eboli and Pappadio were heavy in drugs and turned massive profits for both of their families. By the Late 1970's, the Bonanno's were raking in the majority of drug profits, which made the other New York families wonder and jealous about the money the Bonanno's were making during this time. Not only that, but a majority of the other bosses felt that Carmine was a loose cannon and a rabid dog that needed to be put down.
"I have this Nightmare. I'm on 5th avenue watching the St. Patrick's Day parade and I have a coronary and nine thousand cops march happily over my body." Chief Sidney Green

His murder was part of a power struggle between Costello and Genovese.

if so ... then why were crews from several families crusing around the barbershop daily before the hit took place .he hit anastasia too before taking a shot at costello , and hit scalise . VITO WAS ONE BAD MAN Which other crews? Most likely it was Gambino members. Genovese took out Anastasia first because he was more dangerous than Costello.
