I had the pleasure of attending one of her lectures about 15 years ago. She's a first-class literary figure, who gave us a poetic vision of life from the bottom up. Her works will be read in high schools and universities forever.
When she read her poem at President Clinton's inauguration, she was the first poet since Frost read a poem at Kennedy's inauguration back in 1961. Amazing thinker. RIP.
