My opinion is, at the time of being sworn in to becoming "made", the current boss should also swear his allegiance to honor the code to his underlings AND, if there is a boss changing, he should also bring all family members together just to officially declare to treat everyone fairly and properly........But on a real note, I don't ever see what I stated, happening...Why?...Because it all ALWAYS boils down to $.....Loyalty and honor is gone once money enters the mix. EVERYONE always wants more!...I am sure that people who paid their dues will be passed over for nepotism and such......In a nutshell, if personal greed and nepotism didnt exist, I think 99% would honor the code...We will never see it!....Until we figure out how to quash greed, rats will always exist....I see it as a way for the underlings, who felt mistreated, to get back at their superiors who wronged them.

What it boils down to is plain and simple. They're pussies who are afraid of doing time... And not just long bids, there are asshole out there flipping over 3-5 years! For christ sakes. Martha Stewart did 5 years... These pussies can't? They're all, rats & non rats, a bunch of grabastic pieces of unorganized shit, who deserve what they get. But ratting? That crosses all lines to me, you rat, you should die. Martha stewart didn't do no five years she did like five months but still she at least did the time

Do you really think that would make a difference? Just more promises to break. If Joey Massino "swore" to honor his underlings when he made them, do you really think that THAT particular promise would have stopped him from flipping? Not in a million years (not in my opinion, anyway ).

Plus she took the trial through to conviction and sentencing. Hey, the judge could have given her 20 years, but the woman hung tough and took it on the chin. I personally know of people who faced 3-5 who flipped with either information, testimony or wore wires. Can you imagine that? Wearing a wire for facing 3-5? I get red faced just thinking about it. I have to go smoke a cigar or pipe and relax. Look what you did to me hahaha

I've never faced 20 years so I can't personally speak to what I would do. I've only ever did 9 months after pleading out so I can definately say I wouldn't cooperate for something like 3-5. I wasn't a gangster though just a stupid kid got caught doing stupid stuff but I took responsibility for my actions.

What if you know that you are about to get killed? and for no "legit reason"
What options are you left with? Just willingly get killed? Many men did just that. Walked into their own killing den. No one has that kind of feared respect anymore so I don't ever see that happening these days. Essentially, the days of American LCN walking into their own deaths are over. All that's left are a pack of Axe spray wearing, fist pumping, man-scaped guido wannabes, with big fake titted girlfriends, a buncha oxycontins, an Escalade and a summah house down Tom's Rivah. They've turned flipping into an Olympic sport.

I would add one more to mldetroit's list. I do not know how to say this kindly, so I will just blurt it out. The desire of most men in organized crime, be it Irish or Jewish Mobs or the Mafia was to make a better life for their families - especially their children. Most didn't want their children to follow them into the business. So they taught their children to embrace America and go to college and become doctors and lawyers. I believe it was Frank DeCicco who was shocked when John Gotti put up his son for membership in the Gambino family. Frank told John (according to Sammy Gravano) that he wouldn't do that to his children. Ergo, the best of the Italian men today are in legitimate professions. Which begs the question "who are the made men of today?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJmnr9nL9D0&list=PLQhDH_WZbs1N0jqZ9y9naMtgUfZ3VoVbo&index=14

I think the reason These people do what they do is to make money for themselves. Not for their family they don't love family like you love family.
They give up family to do what they do I think.
They don't feel things in general like normal people do.
Like their wife's mother just died. They knew she was I'll and in the hospital. They are home eating dinner. Then she gets a call you know that is someone telling them her mother is dead.
You are not able to console them because you don't think of dying the way normal people think of it.
So instead you say your mothers dead right? Now pass the veal cutlets. Too much Sopranos?

To bad I did not know you here in the US when the Sopranos first came on. For the first two years I had a soprano party in my house. Had it catered I invited every criminal type I knew. No other friend they would not have gone on well.
Any way we would goof on them while we watch the show. Incidently their was this very cute girl who interviewed the cast members before the start of the show very beautiful with dimples. Everyone love her they all wanted to bang her. You should have just fucked her silly, you big fa***t!

I love that quote from when John Gotti proudly says that his son got made and Chin said 'sorry to hear that'.
I think Chin was a very smart, very clever guy. I agree. It's not something most people would want to do, or want their kids or relatives to do, or inherit.

Just went away for 11 years as a result of a recent multi mob-sweep. He said at his sentencing to the judge. I accept whatever sentence you give me, I just want to make it clear, there will be no cooperation. He's got kids, a wife, two homes. He'd rather sit in jail. So, it depends on the individual. It's just that individuals like him are extremely rare.
