War hero, teacher, coach, and driving school director with a masters in education and you claim he's a mob associate/mobster? Sounds fishy to me but I don't claim to know anything about this gentleman, doesn't appear to fit the profile though.
What is the "profile" though? If this guy was involved in this thing he was very low key which is how someone should be. Either way he lived to a very old age, and may he rest in peace.
