There is absolutely 'upside' to hitting him or any other rat living in plain sight (Pisciotti, Pacello, Joseph 'Joe Campy' Campanella etc).
Deterrent.
Having retribution is a key LCN trait and the lack of this only encourages further 'ratting'.

Whether this outweighs the FBI response is another debate.


Well, the last part of your post is the theory, i.e. whatever benefits could be gained from hitting a rat after the fact are far outweighed by the risks today. Much like taking plea deals rather than going to trial, the mob has had to adapt in the world it lives in now.

Mods should mind their own business and leave poster's profile signatures alone.
