I saw that and laughed. The mayor said that his decision to keep the schools open was consistent with the meteorolical forecasts. I guess every other school district in the tri-state area read it wrong.

We got buried with 10-12 inches in our area.

He then blamed it on free lunch. He said he didn't want the kids to stay home because for many of them, it's the only hot meal that they eat each day. Did they get to eat it when many of the people who work in the kitchen preparing those meals couldn't get to work?

Yogi, your wit never ceases to double me up.

Still incredibly warm here in the High Desert. Some people are praying for snow here because it's been so dry. Very big problem here.

The mayor should be ashamed of himself for saying that.

Deflecting attention from his bad judgment.

He's lucky that there were no accidents involving school buses.

I cringed when I heard the mayor's remark. It would be so much better if he could just admit it was a mistake and move on. People respond well to apologies, and can easily sense when you are disengenuous in hiding from blame.

From the same weather front, I was supposed to get freezing rain. I ended up getting three inches of snow. I'm done with winter.

Exceptionally warm weather continues here in the High Desert, with not a drop of rain. Weather Service talking about starting wildfire season restrictions in April, two months early.

What a week...

Monday - 5+ inches of heavy wet snow on top of the 20+ already.
Tuesday - 40+ sunny degrees of melted yuck starting.
Wednesday - More 40+ sunny melting yuck.
Thursday - 3 inches of rain & tornadoes with melting rivers of yuck flooding out roads, bridges, businesses and homes.
Friday - Check in at the mental ward.

This winter has NOT been any fun in Illinois.

It's gorgeous here today, with the highs expected in the low to mid 70s. It does get down to the 30s at night. There is rain in the forecast sometime next week, which we badly need. I wouldn't mind a couple rainy days.

We had a taste of spring yesterday, clear, blue skys, breezy, temps in low 60s (17 centigrade for you Yogi). Today, 20 degrees colder...such a tease.

Don't do it Klyd. You put that coat away and the polar vortex comes back and it will all be your fault for tempting fate tongue

Don't worry Yogi, I've dispatched commando forces to Klyd's hideaway. As we speak they have reported to me that the coat is still active. We're safe for now. But this Klyd character is very shifty and resourceful.

Not bad here, but we really do need rain. It's forecasted for the weekend. I hope we get it.

Christie declares South Jersey a State of Emergency. We are gettng whacked by the storm that made its way across the country. We escaped several big storms, so I guess our luck ran out. 24 degrees, snowing heavily, windy and we'll probably get 8 inches of snow.

Two days ago, they were calling for freezing rain from noon to four on Sunday, followed by heavy snow with 10 inches expected by Monday. But we lucked out. An arctic blast kept the storm to our south, and all we got was a dusting.

Well, looks like our rainy snap is already done (at least for now). It's a tad cloudy today but should reach 71 today AND by Wednesday they say, 80. If you ever wonder why people panic in bad weather here? Cause we seldom get a chance to drive in it lol

Alright Old Man Winter be a good old codger and scram! 12 degrees this morning. That is not a typical March 4 in South Jersey. Since snow removal is a low priority in SJ, yesterday's 7 inches of snow is now one inch of solid, pack snow/ice on the roads. Only the sun can help us now.

Lovely here. The rains have finally dried up and it is quite warm, Spring is on the way. My wife's daffodils have sprouted and she is talking about growing things, this is always the signs of Spring in our house.

Looks like our rainy spell is over, at least for now. It's sunny and in the 70's. Suppose to reach 80s in the next couple days. Can't complain.

The Great Lakes are mostly iced over. The state has had the most snowfall since 1880. It's going to be around 14 degrees tonight and snow tomorrow.

But on Friday we should be up to 38 degrees. Spring is on the way...

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

That system stretches all the way to New Jersey, USA.

Saturday 10am I was on my bike on the Atlantic City boardwalk. Mid-50s (12 for you Yogi), sunny, light breeze, thankfully not off the ocean where the water is still 38 degrees.
