It wasn't completely untouched. Larry "Coralli" Lee was a card cheat from Iowa who may have been connected to the Outfit thru Sid Wyman of the Dunes Casino in Vegas years ago. At least according to him and his book "Vulture's Wisdom."

I really can't see the mob muscling a bunch of big time rich guys in Texas. Especially since these guys must be connected to some big movers and shakers out there. I mean a decade long investigation ended up in a total of ONE YEAR of prison for it's leader. Obviously a waste of time and strings were clearly pulled.
