Mark and Geoff, you're absolutely right. She has been working on a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet for about two years, and is proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop CS4 and Paint Tool SAI. The schools we've looked at offer a foundation year of basic art classes, drawing painting and so on. Then, they progress to their specialty after that. The three schools she's most interested in are in NY and offer in-depth technical training, and all have the latest equipment. Because they're in NY, they offer internships at places like Nickolodeon, and how cool is that??
Any and all advice is very welcome!! Awesome! That is sooo cool. I want to be 20 again! That sounds like a great opportunity. Something I also found out is how places like Hallmark Cards in Kansas City works. Let's say you take a guy like me in which cartooning is his strong point and coloring is the weakest. Hallmark's policy is to rotate ALL of their artists in each different department to train and develop depth in all artists. I think that is so cool to be able to get all that experience in a great company. I'll give her the best advice I can give your daughter artist to artist - keep creating no matter what. Draw, paint, color, sculpt, sketch or whatever no matter your mood, time of day or where you are. The best time to create is when you are tortured, depressed and sad! Most artists will tell you that some of their best work comes out of the darkest times in their life! Ha! BTW - does she like that show on Bravo; "Work of Art"? I have recently become a fan.

Work of Art is pretty cool; I've watched both seasons of it (Season 2 just ended, Babe). Set in NYC, you both should watch it and see what characters she'll be up against later. Like "The Sucklord" lol She should get some good real-life tips from it, though, so keep an eye out for it....

January 6th, 2012 01:31 PM ET Study: High-fat foods cause brain scarring Keeping pounds off long-term is difficult for even the most successful dieter, and scientists may now be on the path to determining why. A study published recently in The Journal of Clinical Investigation shows that high-fat foods cause damage to the hypothalamus - an area in the brain responsible for hunger, thirst and the body's natural rhythms and cycles - in rodents. “These are really important papers that begin to push the idea out that we’re not in control as much as we think we are,” says Dr. Steven R. Smith, co-director for the Sanford-Burnham Diabetes and Obesity Research Center, who wasn’t involved with the study. http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/06/study-high-fat-foods-cause-brain-scarring/?hpt=hp_bn10

Can anyone recommend an internet site that is safe to download and view tv shows? I specifically want to see American Horror Story. I only saw episode 1 and was hooked. The FX site isn't showing the full episode or even the first 7/8 episodes AND HBO On Demand also is only show the last 4/5 episodes of the season. I see many sites but am afraid to download any because I never heard of them. Any suggestions? I am assuming before season 2 they will have a repeat of one, but I'm just anxious to see it. TIS

TIS have you checked out hulu or itunes? they are the safest bet because you never know what you might download.

DeNiro, I have done some checking on line just to see what prices are which are not that bad. I notice they have a regular price and a extended tour (or something of that nature). I think the extended tour includes a tour of EPs Airplane (The Lisa Marie) and a tour of his classic cars?? I imagine Sun Records would be on another tour no? My only issue is that if I go to TN I want to stay a day or two but not sure what else to see. Since I am not a C&W fan, it may leave out some tours. I really don't care to go to the Grand Ol' Opry. TIS, I've been to Graceland about 15 years ago, give or take, and I saw the car collection and the plane. Maybe I'll dig up some old photos to scan and upload one day when I'm not too lazy.
I have to say the tour is not that long; you can wrap it all in under one hour. I don't remember prices and whether it was extended tour, but the car collection was probably the nicest thing to watch there.
If it's not that big a sum, and you're not gonna go there again, then sure go for extended. And like I said, it's not that long a tour. Don't think you'll spend the whole day there.
Graceland aside, there's a place in Memphis called "Mud Island River Park". Not sure if it's still there, but look it up if you need some place to relax and spend the day.

Thanks Fame, My sister has been there and I knew it wasn't an all day thing. I don't recall the exact admission prices but yes they were not bad at all. Isn't there a restaurant that Priscilla/Lisa Marie own in the vicinity as well? TIS

Joran Vandersloot pleads guilty to killing a Peruvian woman in 2010. If you recall, he was also a suspect in regards to killing Natalie Holloway. Her parents never got closure and I hope (if he's guilty) he confesses to her murder as well. It's got to be terrible to have the years go by and not have any definite answer as to what happened to your daughter, let alone WHERE her body is. This guy has some serious issues I think.
