My mother's family was from Kingston, NY. They arrived a few months before the famous Blizzard of 1888. My father used to joke that the Indians chased them down the Hudson when it froze over.

(Many parts of it have ice covered areas now).

It'll be in the 70s here today. I'll do my first winter jogging.

Gonna be a real mess here in the next three days.... starting tomorrow we on Long Island are getting 4 inches of snow, ¼ inch of ice and then one inch of rain. It will then all freeze up by Thursday.

He was probably as accurate as Doppler 3000 and those big computer touch screens with the expanding views. Down here in Philly we have some weather babes on WABC; Cecily Tynan and Karen Rogers.

I remember the oldtimers in Nyack, NY telling me that there was one winter that they could drive across the Hudson where the Tappan Zee Bridge is today (3 miles across).

My son, like all kids, used to get all leaped up about snow in the forecast. He'd catch the forecast on the 10 pm news from Fox, but insist on staying up to catch the 11 news forecast on NBC because Al Roker was the weatherman. Al always hiballed the forecast: if one station predicted 4-6", Al would predict 6-8". "Al's a dude," my son exulted.

BTW, our unbroken string of great weather here in the High Desert came to an end. We had snow this morning (already melted), but Wednesday's high will be 33, low 13.

About 150 miles.

Luckily it seems (so far) the Shore will be spared from the brunt of it. Maybe an inch or two of snow / wintry mix, and then rain / freezing rain. At least I hope so!

The Steelers and Packers must be scratching their heads. There's several of inches of snow here and it's 18 degrees.

Live report from North Central Illinois...it is oficially snowing & blowing as of 11:30 a.m. CST. Also cold & miserable. Plus the big heavy stuff comes in over night - 12" to 20" is predicted with 50 mph winds. Ugh!

As I bask in the drizzle of South Jersey, I hope all of our members and families are safe and warm during this onslaught of weather.

No snow here just ice. No school today one makeup day so far. My driveway is a big ice rink.

Going down to 9 tonight. Classes canceled today and probably weds and thursday. There's plenty of wet roads to freeze tonight. Teen temps all through the week.

Not typical Texas weather. Funny how critics were saying that Giant Stadium was not proper for a Super Bowl because of the weather, but of course they are closing the roof in Dallas. Dallas may likely be colder than NY come game time. Crazy.

We were already notified that school is on a two hour delay tomorrow. The morning's supposed to be bad, and then it will ease up.

Live weather report as of 7:00 a.m. CST from North Central Illinois...in the words of Frank Barone; "Holy Crap!". Snow drifts, freezing winds snow and all around miserable conditions! Everything is closed. A few of us made it here to the printing plant - I begged a ride from a guy with a huge 4 wheeler. There was no way to get out of my driveway this morning...drifts at least waist high! Many smaller towns around us have no power and the thunder snow last night was eerie! Dogs were going crazy! I got a guy coming to clear my drive way later once the snow and winds die down. No way i can shovel that mess!

First snow-day in Chi since '99.

I'm looking for someone to do mine. Too much and too heavy. I gotta shovel a pathway so my wife can walk to the door and that's gonna just about kill me.

Everything is closed except CVS or Walgreens. Bars are closed, that's how bad it is.
