With Ligambi being in jail, would Philly have made anyone in 2013?
Same with New England?
New York families would surely be guarded about making people with some many grasses about...
British is best....

The extent to which the Commission still even exists or effectively makes any calls at all can be called doubtful. You had the last meeting in 1985 ( http://www.nydailynews.com/boss-rat-jose...rticle-1.114750). I guess instead you have mini meetings between some guys in two or three families. There is probably some limited made list passing as well (like gotti jr's list that was found). It depends on how you define the Commission. Apparently Massino didn't consider the meeting between the five NY families in 2000, which he chaired, as a Commission meeting. Maybe he felt it had to be the official bosses of all the families. Before that, of course, you had the bosses of the Genovese, Gambino, and Lucchese families meet in the late 1980's but the Colombos and Bonannos weren't respresented. "You are aware that The Commission hasn't met in years, right? "
So does it make sense for the Genovese family to represent all these families outside NYC when the commission doesn't meet? Does the commission have the authority it had in days past?
I often wonder if there is anything important enough outside of NYC anymore to contact the commission.
I guess these questions would be hard for a non-insider to answer.... Even if the Commission were still functioning, there wouldn't be much for the Genovese to represent. No reason to for families like Buffalo, Pittsburgh, or Cleveland. There are still ties between the NY families and smaller families remaining in New Jersey, New England, and Philadelphia but more on an ad-hoc basis.
