thank you, HK! St Stephen was where Anthony Anastasio, among other luminaries, had his funeral also... Until a few years ago, there was still a sign at Court Street & Union Street for the Anthony Anastasio Memorial Longshoremen Medical Center, though it had been sold to Long Island City Hospital some years earlier and they in turn sold it for so-called 'luxury condos.'

The contraction of the condos btw 1) was delayed a couple years because of financing hi-jinx and 2) used a lot of non-union labor, which elicited a few notable union protests in return. I don't recall exactly what locals etc though it'd be very interesting to check.
