Fino is a rat bastard, but his book has lot of up till now...little known information
For those skeptics who doubt the Families former strangle hold on the LIUNA locals, and influence in places like Ohio, Pa, and Vegas, and want more info on Rochester and the ABC wars, this is a must read.

A buddy of mine worked for Local 210 laborers union and became a close friend of Fino. He said a small group of laborers spent their days working on a new home Fino was building (With materials (from some gov't job of course) while some poor builder ended up paying for his house.

I too would like to know how Rochester is mentioned. Is there alot of information that hasn't already been written or released or is the same old stuff?

Old News...I know Ron, have spoken with him many times, his daughter lives down the street from me. His inside knowledge has been gone for sometime now, he cooperated going back to the 1970's, but hasn't had union connections and inside info for many years. He is an odd duck as well, supposedly worked undercover for the government overseas in Russia, China and other countries. In my many conversations with him for the project I've been working on, his "concrete" intelligence got cut off in the late 1980' to the early 1990's. Any up to date intel he claims to have is second hand, no direct knowledge which makes a big difference. Just throwing that out there to chew on.

It old news to you and I, but not to the general public. I hate that this cock sucker is going to profit from this, but i'm glad this will be out in the open so people can see what a snivling prick he is. Few people realize that although the Teamsters are a huge vessel for LCN, LIUNA was as big or bigger. I personally used the now defunked local 442 like a cross between and ATM and a short term loan joint. Oh and next time you talk to Ron, ell him he's a POS were this another time and place, I would take great pleasure in covering the hole he was in myself.

Those who asked about the Rochester connection, no matter what the FBI or the Upstate NY media tells you, and no matter what you read in internet forums, both Fiorino and Scialino were casualties of the ABC wars, and what is seldom if ever mentioned in the connection of of the LIUNA locals from Chicago to Yonkers in not only the ABC wars, but so many other moves and scams, a lot of which were centered in Upstate NY.

The problem with making Rochester as the center of the story is that is it a story of a failed(yes, failed)attempt to split from Buffalo. That's the story, not the Rochester crew themselves. I am working on a book that spans from 1960 to 2008, with an epilogue that spans to the present day. I hope to get it published by 2016

Why failed? Didn't they switch their alliance to Pittsburgh later?

Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:

1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."

2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."

This is why it was called the A, B and C wars. Pittsburgh was the primary ally of "The "B team" who fought for a separate Rochester family which would have close ties to Pittsburgh. Frank Velante was at one time in fact, a made member of the Pittsburgh family. But make no mistake, the A-B-C war itself lasted roughly from 1970 to 1982, with early skirmishes as early as 1964, and the collateral battles until around 1990, at NO time did Rochester ever fully sever from Buffalo. Yes you will see "Rochester family" used everywhere from forums like this to Wikipedia, even the FBI has used the term. But unless you count a faction who was continuously under siege who never got their hands on 90% of the cash flow as a "family", it never existed.

Marotta is and always was a lowlife drug addicted loser, but a lucky one. Dominic Taddeo tried to take him out twice and failed both times
He and his road buddy Tony Masracco were two of the biggest jagoffs in the history of the LCN

Contrary to what people think, mob books don't make that much money. I have been a part of 5 books published on organized crime in the Cleveland/Youngstown area and unless a book makes the NY Times best seller list, they are "barely" profitable unless somebody like John Gotti is writing it and gets an advance. Ask Scott Burnstein, Allan May, Scott Deitsche...not much profit for all the hard work and years of researching.

YEah its a labor of love.I am sure rick porello made a few bucks on his movie rights to the Irishman unless he just got a flat fee. TO bad that didn't have a high budget could of been a great movie.

The Danny Greene story could have been a blockbuster if the right director and writer go their hands on it. TJ Reid, Tara Reid's brother produced it. Although Rick got an executive producer credit, he had absolutely no input whatsoever. They destroyed that story

But in this case why did they have an underboss, consigliere etc like a separate family? If it was just a part of the Buffalo family, shouldn't they have been headed by a capo?

It was for years, but in case you were unawre, there was a war fought over this issue. Yes they claimed a Boss, underboss and a full family structure for several years, until they accepted they were outgunned, outsmarted and would never be recognized as a "family" by Buffalo or the commission. The ABC war then led to might just be the longest internal war in the history of the LCN. If you count the early skirmishes and end it at the time of the fall of the Bretti crew and the Indictments of most of the Falange crew, it ran from 1964 to 1992
