Gotti was poison everything he touched turned to shit.
One of the worst bosses of all time in my opinion. How about Vic & Gas who slaughtered dozens of their own guys and forced other loyal high ranking members to flip? The same with Nicky Scarfo killing dozens of his guys. What about Carmine Persico who turned the Colombos into a joke? Gotti was bad, but not as bad as the others.

Mulberry , I couldn't agree more with your comment . Scarfo , amuso and casso ruled with total fear and intimidation , they killed people for the slightest infraction , the guys were frightened to death and it caused paranoia so they ran to the Feds with open arms ( al d'arco ) when scarfo killed salvy testa it was all over for him , casso and amuso should have been whacked when they killed tony ducks chosen successor buddy luongo , it would have saved them a whole lot of trouble . As for the colombos they are more like a blood family than a mob family , everyone is related directly or indirectly to persico . How can he be in touch with what's going on , on the street , he has been locked up for 24 years , but nobody can wrestle control from him , look what happened when Vic orena tried . Even now tge administration is partly made up of persico relatives . His brother teddy was released last week so he prob has a place on it , Andy Russo is his acting boss and cousin and Thomas farese his consigliere is related also . In my opinion , bill cutolo would have made a great boss , he was greatly feared and respected , he also was a massive earner for the family . Hence why the persicos made him underboss so they could get him close enough to kill him , until carmine steps down or is forced to the colombos will always be unstable . Yeah gotti made mistakes wen he moved his operations to the ravenite and making his captains meet there every Tuesday for all the world to see , but he did no more damage to the mob than amuso , casso , scarfo , persico , massino, vitale . The list could go on and on

Is he back running his crew or will he retire? In a 2012 article, Louis DeVito was said to be a captain. He was originally from Vallario's crew so he may have taken it over. Acting or official. And can you kindly post a link to referenced article Cheers
MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack. CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go. MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'. WILL: So don't go.

And can you kindly post a link to referenced article Cheers Sonny i think Ivy may be referring to a 2012 article in the NY Daily News. "The mobbed-up guests are reputed capos John Gambino, Joseph Marino, John Rizzo, Louis Devito and Pasquale Marsala and soldiers Joseph Costa, Joseph Gambino and Pietro (Pete) Inzerillo, according to court papers and law enforcement sources". http://m.nydailynews.com/1.1198454
