Anyone know if there was ever any Cosa Nostra activity in Sacramento, or if anyone from a family controlled anything out here? I know there can't be much. But I did read an article about the San Francisco family that said one of the members had a gambling operation in Sacramento. My father, who's in his 60's and studies Sacramento history, insists there was, and that they owned a lot of legitimate businesses in the mid 1900s. Would appreciate any information on this, or if anyone knows of a source that may have some.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea
