Not many. They have young guys for sure. I'm comparing them to the south side.

What is their recruitment field? Where will Grand Ave field teenagers/20 something Italian kids? I don't see it happening. Elmwood Park, maybe, but Grand Ave will go the way of Taylor St. & Rush St. It'll take a while, but there's no future in that territory. The Patch becomes more 1st world yuppie with each passing year.

If you follow/know the city at all, you realize that traditional white ethnic enclaves are promoted as such by the media and nostalgic public long after they are functionally dead. Andersonville is still a "Swiss area," Lincoln Square a "German neighborhood," Ukrainian Village still the "Ukrainian heart of Chicago," West Town still Polish.

Of course while all those neighborhoods still have vestiages of those communities to varying degrees and some even a lingering amount of, generally, extremely elderly citizenry, the statements as a whole can be categorized with two words: patently false.

The map I posted in another thread will show you that the area is mostly Hispanic and you can bet your bottom dollar that the lingering 5-10 percent of Italians who still live there are all old.

In short the number of Italian teenagers growing up around Grand Avenue, at least in the city, is probably close to nonexistent.

Does it really? Because according to this web site run by the city it only had 2,500 back in 1990. But you would know.

if cicero or the southside is smart then they'll send a couple guys into grand ave

all they gotta do is strengthen up that crew or tell elmwood park to do it

because i find it hard to believe nobody in elmwood still wants to be in the outfit

Nobody will touch Elmwood park until John is out the picture.

From now on, nothing goes down unless I'm involved. No blackjack no dope deals, no nothing. A nickel bag gets sold in the park, I want in. You guys got fat while everybody starved on the street. Now it's my turn.

Elmwood has been de-active from an illegitimate standpoint for so long now I doubt it
Ever comes alive again . At this point their customers have moved on and I'm sure some
Have went to Cicero and Chinatown .

The outfit has no competition like in NY so there isn't really an incentive to be big ( or a Reason as there is less threat of war or protecting turf ) , the last crews left are going to hog as much as they can . IMO because there is no competition , at some point there is the possibility they just die out many years from now . What No nose did would be impossible in NY or NJ , he would be whacked or forced out of the area and his rackets would be taken over by the strongest crew .

Even Philly has competition for their rackets in south jersey and they compete in north jersey in gambling and loan sharking .

^^^^^

elmwood park is a crooked suburb that still has italians in it

it would be smart to reactivate elmwood park even if it's only to recruit
