I'm pumped they brought back mountain bikes and huge mountains and forests to explore. GTA 4 was good, but too confined and needed more features. I'm glad they are bringing back all the customization of San Andreas.

Grand Theft Auto Online Gameplay Revealed This Week
Source: GameInformer.com

If you've been wondering how Rockstar will evolve online play for Grand Theft Auto V, your curiosity will be satisfied shortly. On Thursday, August 15, expect a new video on the connected modes the title will offer.

Grand Theft Auto IV offered 15 different types of online play, including competitive Deathmatch, objective-based team modes, competitive carjacking, and a number of co-operative choices. Whether Grand Theft Auto V will improve the formula or take the safe path is something we'll learn on Thursday.

Our Take
Grand Theft Auto IV's multiplayer modes got a lot of buzz prior to launch, but I don't recall anyone raving about them once the game hit retail. There's room for great open-world multiplayer modes (just look at Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption), and it will be interesting to see what Rockstar has learned since GTA IV's release in 2008.

as a huge fan since the start of the series in 1997 i really want wait until gta 5, i've owned them all and i get more and more excited about each addition to the series.

i've juggled my preorder around so much too, first i preordered the special edition for 360, then changed it to ps3, then recently cancelled and preordered the regular version off the psn store so i could get a digital copy

GTAV 266 Million Dollar Production Cost Marks Highest Videogame Budget Ever

I know they will make their money back and then some, but that is a huge budget for this game. This makes me even more pumped for this game.

The map of the game has leaked (right-click to view in full size):

Here's a comparison with the map of its ancester, San Andreas:

Also, a comparison with the map of its predecessor, GTA IV:

As you, it's tree times bigger than Sandreas and five times bigger than GTA IV.

On the GTA forums they've made a replica with more information on landmarks and such:

I love how the game creators get their inspiration from movies. I can't help but notice the similarities in the trailers between the game and Heat.

theres gotta be a mission where you get grove street back. San andreas had the whole gang wars thing where you had to fight block by block only thing was that you could be on the other side of the map and you could lose territory and it kind of got repetitive after a while.

just picked up the game yesterday its pretty sick. i like Trevor, he reminds me of Boyd Crowder from Justified. Just a little tip, dont play the mission where you have to land that airplane when your really drunk, it mustve taken me like 20 trys before i could land the plane without crashing it lol.

This game is good, but all the hype about its size scope and length was unjustified. It is really not much longer than 4, and nowhere near the size of san andreas. The playable areas (cities, states etc) do not get close to San Andreas. The game is solid, but there are some issues with it. Such as the fact that it takes one punch to kill somebody now. They spent so much time on the minutia they forgot about the basic stuff. There are also several dropped story lines. I cant tell if they ran out of time in its creation or were plain sloppy.

I picked up the collectors edition that came with some stuff. The coolest is the heavy duty security bag that locks with a key for holding valuables. Some pics I took..

is that a joke? the map is massive compared to san andreas, the city is huge but the buildings are properly scaled and take up much more space and the roads are much wider, san andreas was tiny in comparison but the buildings etc were compressed as hell to fit more in.

5 is 50sq miles compared to san andreas which was 17 or something, there's no debate that 5 is much larger

also with the punches i don't think they're dead as much as they're just KTFO. not everyone is out for the count after 1 punch either, especially if they saw it coming and it wasn't a sucker punch.

Seriously, I have played half the game, and I have major reservations now about all the hype it received. The characters, despite a few interesting lines here and there, are basically the same and boring all game: Mike whining about his shitty life, Trevor a lunatic sociopath, Franklin reciting the line "come on dawg" about ten thousand times.

And really besides the graphics, its a basic scripted linear game ala Call of Duty with some marginally boring side missions and traffic movements. The choices on the heists make zero difference. That isn't to say there are some really cool scripted missions.

I got another question. Why does Trevor, supposed criminal mastermind with connections in OC, act like Mike returning from the dead as a fucking rat is A-OK with him (after getting his buddy wasted and ruining his life) and then proceeds to help the FIB? Really?

Should probably ask Mr. Kierney. I guess if you're Italian, you should be in prison.

Play the other half and you'll find out that he isn't A-OK with it at all.
