MEDFORD - The Army may be more than a job, but a Medford man wanted no part of it and tried to avoid serving his hitch by creating an adventure, Medford police said.

Police said Billy Angelesco was one of three men who stole a Boston Herald newspaper delivery truck from outside a Store 24 late Wednesday night. Angelesco, 18, was due to report to Fort Dix, N.J., on Tuesday to begin basic training.

"He said he'd volunteered but he thought he wouldn't be able to go if he was arrested," said Officer William Butts.
