I know there has been so many different factions trying to take control of Montreal since Rizzuto was incarcerated in the US. I see a lot of different people on here have pieced together some great information and came up with very logical theories. I also know some the murders of the Rizzuto family members have been symbolic and for retaliation since some mirrored how the Rizzuto's murdered the Violo/Cotroni faction during their reign. But, why would Paolo Renda get kidnapped? The motive usually is to make a bloody statement and the usual would be to have simply blasted him in his car when he was stopped or in front of his house since his house was less then a kilometer away from where he was kidnapped. I don't see why the kidnappers would bother with wearing police uniforms. Plus, his body never turned up, and no other kidnappings have occurred since this or before? I am also wondering if Paolo had bodyguards? I ask this because they had recently killed Nick Rizzuto Jr. just five months prior. Wouldn't he feel he was a likely a possible next target and take precautions?

I watched a Youtube video back when Renda was kidnapped in 2010. In the video, author Humphrey, who wrote the book The Sixth Family, says that Paolo Renda will surface most likely for demands etc. I thought in 2011 maybe Renda was behind all of this to seize control for himself by staging his own kidnapping. I just don't see a 72 year old man finally getting ambitious so late in the game. He would have moved quicker when Rizzuto was incarcerated.

It states Paolo Renda was a consigliere in the Rizzuto family, and they are requesting a death certificate from the judge. Do you guys feel he was a consigliere in the family, or due to the closeness to Vito and financial responsibility, was he more of a underboss before Vito went away to prison?

Wasn't Renda his brother in law? I don't think he would have been brave or dumb enough to stage a fake kidnapping to try and take over.

I think he was kidnapped and tortured for info, info to what who knows? Maybe they were trying to get into Rizzuto's hidden money? Maybe they were trying to shake him down before killing him. I think money was the issue here, and someone was trying to get it.

Consigliere or Underboss it doesn't matter to me, he was pretty high up when he was killed.

he was probably kidnapped just to scare everyone further. guys being left in the street, guys disappearing, guys snipered whilst having dinner with the family. seems like it is showing that they are/were devestating in so many different ways and capable of anything. like to give an aura of no ones safe!

Renda was kidnapped, most likely for info. He was tortured, dismembered, and put in a barrel of acid. He did not die an easy death.

I was in Agrigento in 2010, attended a memorial service for Cun trera by his family, who was just murdered, and it was talked about at that time. Anything more, I can't say.

It seems, Carmela, that what you just admitted to, you have the pieces to the jigsaw puzzle with all the murders going on in Canada. Also being allowed to attend Agostino Cun trera's memorial service in Siculiana means you have to intimately know the family some way or another. And, his murder was a big mystery at the time.

We know that Di Maulo, Desjardins, and Montagna were all involved in the power play that help lead to Del Peschio, Nick Jr, Renda, and Cun trera being murdered. So, then why couldn't you say anymore? If this is so dangerous, why would you slip up now and state what you did about Paolo Renda? So if this is true, you have just confirmed my personal theory who in fact is really backing this huge power play on the Rizzuto's and controlling Montreal. Those three men, Di Maulo, Desjardins, and Montagna, were just pawns to the real threat that was behind this all along. Thank you!!!

I didn't just slip up now. I was in Agrigento in July, 2010, only days after Agostino's death and posted FROM SICILY that I just attended the memorial of Agostino in Siculiana. Nobody even knew there was a memorial before I said so. BUT, I was on Real Deal forum at the time and that's where I posted it.
The member, antimafia, can confirm this, in case it's a doubt in anyone's mind.

So, again, it wasn't a slip up. I've said it before. I said it as it was happening. I've also said I know many of the Caruana/Cun trera's as they are inter-married into my family. I also have confirmed that Giuseppe Cun trera was present at that memorial when many were wondering where he was/is.

Obviously I can't say more, meaning, it's still an unsolved case. And, it's pretty much all I know anyhow.

Just to clarify, there are two other known "disappearances" related to the Montreal Mafia war, with Mario (Skinny) Marabella going missing in December 2008, and Giuseppe "Joe" Renda (No relation to Paolo) going missing in May 2012.

madone I f'ed that up, I forgot about the Marabella brothers in general. On a side note also Frank Martorano was kidnapped beat up and shaked down for six days and paid $1 million and was released.
