My issues with Tyson's legacy are that he never beat a top heavyweight, outside of Michael Spinks- who doesn't rank high on the all time rankings at heavyweight. Beating Larry Holmes out of retirement was similar to Holmes beating Ali. And he never came back to defeat any of the 5 guys that KO'ed him.

The young Tyson was my favorite boxer as he was destroying the division. Nobody was as exciting or intimidating when he fought against non elite opposition. He just wasn't as impressive against better fighters. A skilled, tall, strong fighter had a big advantage against Tyson. Buster Douglas was not in Tyson's league, but he had the big reach and height advantage. That's partially why Tyson had so much trouble with Lewis and Holyfield, and why the Klitchkos would have defeated him, imo.

I wish we saw the Klitchkos fight the elite heavyweights, they seemed to have barely missed the Lewis/Holyfield/Tyson/Bowe era. And the Vitali/Lennox fight was a good one.

You shit-kicking, stinky, horse-manure-smelling motherfucker you! If you ever get out of line over there again, I'll smash your fucking head so hard you won't be able to get that cowboy hat on. You hear me? Fucking hick. -Nicky (Casino)
