Sad story from San Diego, CA that's been on our local news. Apparently a family friend killed a woman and kidnapped either both or one of her children and set the house on fire. (Tho they found remains of a child and think it's the son)

SAN DIEGO -[i]- The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is searching for a 40-year-old man suspected of killing a woman and possibly kidnapping her two children.


[i]James Lee DiMaggio is suspected of killing Christina Anderson, 44, of Lakeside and kidnapping one or both of her children: Hannah Anderson, 16, and Ethan Anderson, 8.

Christina Anderson's body was found Sunday night in the burning rubble of a house and garage in the rural community of Boulevard in eastern San Diego County, authorities said. She had been killed, they said.

The remains of a child were also found, but the child's identity and cause of death have not been determined, said Lt. Glenn Giannantonio of the Sheriff's Department's homicide detail.

It is believed that DiMaggio has one or both of Anderson's children with him in his blue Nissan Versa, California license plate 6WCU986, Giannantonio said.

DiMaggio is the owner of the home in Boulevard and had a "close platonic relationship" with Christina Anderson, authorities said.

Are you guys familiar with, or following at all the trial of Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter? I only just the other day took note when it was reported that he wants to be his own attorney. His lawyers say he WANTS the death penalty and that it's hard for them to continue to be his lawyer (I can imagine).

Anyway he is defending himself and will be questioning some of the victims on the stand. The lawyers wanted out of the case but the judge ordered them there as a back-up type thing. She said they'd have to go to a higher court if they needed to but refused to release them from their duty.

Just wondering your thoughts. How strange is it when you have to work for a client who wants the death penalty?

Just got back from a few days at Ocean City, NJ. My wife and two of my kids are still there. I counted my toes and have all twelve. I better call my family to check if one of them is missing a foot.

I had a client once, who after his arrest on a charge of rape and and attempted homicide decided bfore representation that he wanted the death penalty and therefore led investigators to a landfill where there were remains of past victims, some of whom he had been suspected of killing years ago. Just before the remains were uncovered, he changed his mind and told them he was kidding. Of course, he was charged with multiple killings with aggravated circumstances and we had to take a trial. He was easily convicted, and the jury had a more difficult time before returning a verdict of death. The sentence was vacated several years later by the trial judge, citing the US Supreme Court decision barring the death penalty for defendants, who are mentally retarded. His IQ was in the borderline range.

During a pretrial conference in chambers the judge, D.A. and I were discussing the two psychology reports from both sides that dealt with IQs. The judge said there was a legal term of idiot for one range of IQ and a term of moron for another range. She wondered aloud what do they call those in the range just below them, and I answered, "Prosecutors."

But to answer your question, it would be very strange to represent someone, who wants the death penalty. Judges are well advised not to let counsel withdraw because a defendant representing himself will leave a messy record, a frustrating trial, and likely an order for a retrial.

I'm sure most of you have heard of the mayor making headlines here in CA. San Diego Mayor Bob Filner who had least 17 women complain of sexual harassment, is FINALLY scheduled to step down tomorrow. It's about F-ing time.

This guy has been accused of inappropriate touching, comments. One woman said he told her to come to work without her panties on. For God's sake, you'd think he'd know that might just get him in trouble. He's been refusing to go but I think he finally got the message. Good bye to that POS

An employee of NYC's Transit Authority maintenance division stole some welding equipment from the work yard. The equipment didn't fit into his personal car, so the yahoo stole one of those BIG trucks with a boom on the back to transport the equipment. He dropped the equipment off in his home driveway, a few miles away from the work yard. As he was driving the truck back, the boom (in the back of the truck) went up and he ended up tearing down miles of power lines, trees, traffic signals and knocking down power poles.

Over 5,000 people were without power for up to 12 hours and many said that this guy caused more damage than last year's hurricane.

I saw this on the news this morning, but nobody knew at the time that he had stolen equipment. The damage he did made quite a visual.

The jersey shore is going up in flames, the fires in seaside heights(where the show jersey shore was at) have been going on since 2:00, im starting to think gov christie told them to just let it burn so he can collect on the insurance money.
