How about "Johnny Dio", aka Giovanni Dioguardi, ran the Lucchese rackets in the garment center and was a master at union and white-collar extortion. If it wasn't for the Victor Riesel attack and if he had not been under indictment for bankruptcy fraud at the time, I wonder if he would have been made boss after Tommy Lucchese died. The character of "Johnny Friendly" in On the Waterfront was based off of Dio.


I thought Johnny Friendly was supposed to be based on Annastasia, or on his brother.
