Yea, I tend to do that Dellacroce. lol I never answer myself though. wink

Haven't been watching tv last couple hours, so don't know about the LaGuardia plane. I have fortunately never experienced problems like that all the times I've flown. I can imagine how scary that would be. Malfunctioning landing gear? Seems to me that would be quite a problem. panic

Dellacroce,

That airplane did having landing gear problems. Geez, I fly Southwest all the time when I go to Vegas and once to San Francisco. I didn't realize the flew Coast to Coast. I've never had any problems with them. They are the only airlines I know of that don't have baggage fees too.

Anyway, the good news is no injuries. Whew!!!!

Ya ive never been on a plane and stories like this arent really encouraging me to do so anytime soon. When i travel(which is very rare) i usually take the train, but seems im hearing abouty train derailments more and more. Maybe i should just stay in jersey. Glad theirs no injuries, couldve been a lot worse

Can't say I've know this guy til recent events, but here in California the Mayor of San Diego, Bob Filner, has a number of sexual misconduct charges against him. This includes telling one female staffer not to wear underwear to work. uhwhat

He's speaking now but coincidentally the mic went out at the most inopportune time. He so far said, he is going to 2 weeks of therapy. He's been adamant about NOT resigning tho everyone wants him to. So far, it doesn't sound like he's going to. They are waiting to fix the mic problems.

Been reading about this guy and it is beyond me that he thinks he can stay in office. Two weeks of therapy, that is a joke, his other comment about him needing to start being a better person also made me laugh. Also the article i read said that the local govt there doesnt know what to do besides ask for his resignation, can they not impeach him?

Good question. I would think they could impeach him. Can you impeach Mayors? Or have recall election. confused This guy is a real piece of work. He keeps saying he's not gonna resign, but in the end I don't see a happy ending for him. Two weeks therapy??? That's not gonna cut it IMHO. If I had to guess, I'd bet he'll resign in the next week (tho I may be wrong). confused

Ya u would think there would be something they could do but idk.yes i would also be surprised if he lasts another couple of weeks. It seems the SOP for politicians in these "situations" these days is to resign, wait a couple of years and then run for office again like it never happened rolleyes

This priceless item from today's local newspaper:

Thief steals $100, defecates on floor

Police are currently investigating a burglary at a Granite Street visual arts center in which an unknown thief stole $100 in cash and defecated on the floor of the office.

According to police, staff at the center notified police on July 25 concerning the incident. An employee reported to officers she detected an odor the previous day just before leaving for the night. She also noticed a partially opened sliding door at that time, according to the police report, indicating the burglar may still have been inside the center.

Employees discovered the cause of the smell, as well as the robbery, the following day and contacted police. Police searched the building with a K9 unit, but were unable to find anyone still inside.

Oh, and on a totally different note, was anyone else surprised that someone got to the Lincoln Memorial and did graffiti and/or minor damage to it? I don't recall anything like that happening before at a Washington Monument. I don't get why someone would do that. confused

This was so sad. Childhood friends became engaged and were to be married in two weeks on August 10th. On Friday night, they went out on a friend's boat, struck a construction barge under the Tappan Zee Bridge, and the bride-to-be and best man drowned.

SB, what a dumb tragedy. I used to water ski in the area below the bridge, and north of Piermont. Out there at night?? Not smart.

Especially when taken with a liberal dose of alcohol. I know the groom's dad. He's a local insurance agent and has been on a local school board forever. This is so terribly sad, but mainly because it was avoidable.

A few days ago our Archbishop of Canterbury (head of the Church of England)came out in the news condemning on-line payday loan companies who charge extortionate interest rates. There are many of these companies but the most famous and controversial is a lot called Wonga.com (over here Wonga is a slang term for money in general hence the naff name) He vowed to fight them, increase Church credit unions for the poor folks and actually drive Wonga out of business!!!!

By the end of the day it was revealed that the Church of England actually has a load of money invested in Wonga, the very company the good Archbishop had referred to as worse than the money lenders Jesus threw out of the temple.

Apparently the Archbishop is both furious and embarrassed at this turn of events...and so he should be. Hilarious. I love it when public figures like that make a fool of themselves. They should either check their facts or think before they open their mouths lol

Horrible news in Venice Beach CA the other day. Some idiot guy plows his car into a crowd injuring many and killing one young woman. To make it even sadder, this woman was from Italy and with her husband on her honeymoon. Isn't that awful. frown

Haven't been to Venice Beach in years but it was always crowded and a fun place to actually people watch. (If you watch video, the first kid they interview is a mild example of why it's fun) smile
