I agree Joe, youngest meaning if you calculated the average age of members in every family per capita there guys would be the youngest

he's probably making 100k from loansharking. as long as nicodemo doesn't flip there in good shape as in 1 yr merlino comes back takes over philly strong with all his young guys, the scarfo guys. philly what 4 million people theres a lot of money to be made. look at scarfo jr just making millions bring bags of money to vic amuso wifes house. football season comes these guys will make big $$$. front money to drug dealers and get back quick big money.

I have a feeling skin might disagree. Although I can't speak for him so who knows. And to make a 100 k a year on shy depends on the vig. If your making 100 k a year on shy, then depending on the vig you have at least 100 on the street. 100k on the street at 2 points is 2k a week, and thus, 104k a year.

I dont know him but i see that he knows book..So loansharking how many guys in philly not the top 3 and not top 3 capos have a min.of 100,000.00 on the street .come on not many just not happening it is not like the old days there.with football u my have a couple guys after paying everything out may do good but not like it was.If you had 100,000.00 to put out u have bills you have stifs ,you would need 200,000.00 out to clear 120,000.00 before your LAWYER.

Nicodemo was into insurance - personal lines and had an office on Federal street. Mazzone into a fitness gym and a restaurant which has since closed. Some of the others into bars - local ones in South Philly for most part. Would say gambling is their big money maker - not a shocker I guess. Angelina Lance and Lucibello all have big sheets from what I imagine. Not as familiar with money on the street...Johnny Chang had a lotto stand but not sure ownership status anymore on that. Uncle Joe had a no show garbage job before he went away.

Seems there main rackets are bookmaking and loansharking, and video poker machines. Uncle joe had that no show job at the garbage company or something and im sure a lot of the guys own or have interests in legtimate businesses.

The majority of the money in south jersey and philly comes from gambling and drugs. (For the philly family) I dont think they are at the level of making 50k a yr total. Both Chang and Mazzone make that legit. In tribute from crews id say about 100k a piece. Give or take how they decide to handle things. Bigfella is right, Ligambi was to greedy. If mazzone wants to run the family like uncle joe or the skinny guy he could easily make a stockbrokers salary or more. For book id say 100k a yr is around 50ish bettors with a handful of quarter agents running that, no more. Book is big in s jersey, philly area... Danny Damrosia, Nicky Alfonse, Marmando whatever. All real big books. I know Nicky Scarfo Jr made good money. Idk about his financial scam, but he had a good sheet under the perna book in parsippany. This conception of philly bosses not being recognized by ny families is bs. They recognized all these guys, merlino, mazzone, ligambi. Remember there are 7 families in nj, theres a lot of interaction, alot of debts owed to other crews, alot of crews working together. Best example is Pernas and Scoops. Today shylocking is like a precurser to shake down guys. It can never be the money maker book is. Scoops probly kicks up more than any other crew in that family. My two cents, either Merlino doesnt come home to stay, or he comes home and isnt welcome.

I don't know how much you follow things but there's been several mob-connected gambling busts there over the past decade. The family's union interests went when they lost HEREU Local 54 over 20 years ago. There's also some loansharking, some drug trafficking, some stolen goods. You don't see that many big time financial scams outside the New York families.

There was a news article in the Philly paper during the big indictments that kind of poked fun at the fact that the Philly mob is only involved in small time shy and book. They were basically laughing at the fact that no violence was alleged in the indictments, but of course right after the verdict that one guy was gunned down in the middle of the street in South Philly.

Thats my point ivy, they don't do much of anything, this takes away from joe's legacy because he did'nt provide for his family, alot of guys was on the bench.
The peace in philly is not because he's a good leader, I bet theres alot of guys that can't wait for joey to come back, he gaved guys freedom to do there thing, how can u call urself a boss and u don't have a crew in open cities like l.a. andflorida, joe was a terrible boss aandif he beat the charge it would be best for h to come home and not make any waves, he does' nt have the guys and is' nt crazy enough to go to war with joey

It wouldn't be in Joes dna to go to war with Joey - wouldn't happen. Joey has the crews and respect on the street. Have to disagree that joey won't be recognized by NY ... He's done his time and sure he made friends in the can..
If anyone on the board can help out with some of Scarfos guys who are out - faffy, Charlie white, grandes etc...have heard bits and pieces but nothing too reliable.

I think Mazzone so far has been doing well. I havent heard a word about him really since he became acting boss 2 years ago. As far as Ligambi goes, i think the whole case was bullshit and a waste of taxpayers money, and I honestly hope him and Georgie beat the case, but I dont actually think theyre gonna win. Atleast not Ligambi anyway. And Merlino knows if he chooses to go back to Philly hes gonna end up either back in jail or dead. Probably plenty people that wouldnt mind seeing Joey dead.
I havent seen or heard of anything mob-related in Philly for a little while now but you know there making moves but they just not as stupid this time.

Joey Merlino and Joe Ligambi are really close and there families are close so I doubt they would go to war and even if they did , your right Ligambi dont have the back up but that would just make Merlino and the whole city HOT as hell and ruin whatever money they are making.

Yeah ok John Gambino sat down with Uncle Joe and this Steffanelli but it was so weak the feds couldn't even find much. That wasn't even NY really, how many times was Uncle Joe or Joey actually in NY,I'd venture to say 0.

J Gambino can speak for NY, don't worry about that. His attendance was if Dom himself was there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, those tapes identified Uncle Joe only as Acting for Joey. I thought the tapes revealed that Scarfo Sr and Amuso were looking to retake Philly from Joey. The Lucchese were also trying to recruit guys like Big Lou Fazzini and Joe Grande. and were not recognizing the Merlino/ligambi administration. Philly wanted the Gambino support and acknoledgement in case the shit hit the fan.

I see a lot of you guys saying that the lower end guys were starving under Ligambi, that was the big talk at Staino's wedding reception,a few drinks here there and then it comes out.I always thought that from the git-go that 1,2, and 3 were making all the money.
