A lot of guys who are capos now come from his crew and still he has influence over....
Not that familiar with NYC, is this common? Sending capable soldiers from one crew to become capo's of others? Or is his crew that strong and full of capable soldiers that it's done because they can?

It's not uncommon. Crews break off from other crews. Others get disbanded and guys go with other crews. For example, the Gigante crew was split between Cirillo and Mario Gigante. Fritzy Giovanelli's crew later broke off from Cirillo. Jiggs Forlano's crew split between Charlie Panarella and John Brancato. And Panarella's crew was later split between Bill Cutolo and Joel Cacace. The Catena crew was split between Louis Gatto and Tino Fiumara.
Mods should mind their own business and leave poster's profile signatures alone.
