Were those the Chop Shop wars? I thought I read an article on that a while back.

Was Tocco trying to take over every single chop shop on the southside?

Toodoped, Joe Ferriola didn't order ANY MURDER because he was never the one of the two Top Bosses in the Outfit. The order came from Auippa/Cerone and carried out by their replacements Carlisi/DiFronzo.

I don't understand that. Why were Albert Tocco and Jimmy Catuara allowed to order countless murders, even against each other? What the heck was Al Pilotto doing while his crew killed each other off.

Tocco didn't order any murders without permission from Auippa/Cerone. If the Top Bosses can't control your gun, then you will be eliminated.
Al Pilotto was a powerful Crew Boss. He was on the Chicago Commission. Al Tocco took over for Pilotto.

The Chop Shop war was between the Chicago Heights Crew and outside associates. The Chicago Heights Crew was solid before Al Tocco went to prison.
After Tocco went down with a couple of his guys in the early 1990's, the Heights Crew was never the same. The basically faded out. A Couple made guys that were left became part of either 26Th St or Cicero, depending upon what they did down there.
