Consider that Maranzano organized and established the Five Families, recognized who was Boss of each Family and basically cobbled together the first draft idea of "The Commission". He modeled the Mafia's modern day chain of command after the Roman military's.

Luciano only did away with the formality of the "Boss of Bosses" position and the trouble it had caused, kept the general structure that Maranzano had put in place of the Five Families, and simply refined on what was already built...Yet he is commonly considered the father of American La Cosa Nostra...

But I pose it to you, who is the real father of American LCN?
