I finally saw Vol 2 after I bought it yesterday (If you get it at Best Buy, you get a free box that holds both movies - but you gotta hurry!)
I loved Vol 1 cuz I'm a sucker for martial arts sequences. Vol 2 is different, it's more of a Western. Which is fine and all, and there are still some decent martial arts fight scenes, but whenever I thought there was going to be a huge fight scene, it always seemed to end abruptly (tho in a cool way).
But I did like all the flashbacks - it really brought the two movies together into one complete epic.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I am also obessed with this movie(s). Volume Two just came in the mail today. I can't wait to watch it this weekend! Though this isn't my favorite Tarantino. Pulp will always take the cake.

It pains me to make this statement but I was not too thrilled with Kill Bill Vol 1. In fact I was disappointed. I will give it another viewing when it is shown on cable, and then give Vol 2 a try.
I am a Tarantino fan and have enjoyed his films but Kill Bill did not live up to the promise and expectations from the young film director that made Reservoir Dogs over twelve years ago. Like I said I do enjoy his films
Reservoir Dogs- A very good film Pulp Fiction- A great film, blown away the first time I saw it Jackie Brown- A good film Kill Bill Vol 1- OK
I wouldn’t say that he is overrated, but I do think he has slipped. He has a very small body of work so a slip certainly cannot go un-noticed. I know he is very fascinated with 70’s pop culture, but I think he could have waited to get a few more films under his belt before he made his homage to martial arts films. Right from the beginning of the film with that
“ Quentin Tarantino’s Forth Film”
What the hell was that, like I should be honored to view the upcoming film from a self anointed film genius? My expectations were set very high but all I got was a cross between Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon & Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle.
Also I loved the writing of True Romance,
I’m sorry

I don't mean to be the deadbeat either, but I was quite disappointed with this film. I finally saw Volume 1 about a week ago, and I've heard a ton of hype about it before viewing it. It had a lot of good martial arts scenes, but the whole thing steered too far away from reality in my opinion. Blood was used in excess to the point where it just seemed.....well....over the top.
Before you all attack me, keep in mind that I didn't dislike this film enough to actually hate it. I just wasn't blown away by it, and had a hard time believing the content of the scenes that contribute to the film's plot. Call me crazy.

I think that was the point. And, oh yeah, you're crazy.

I honestly hated these films. Ebert says it's the best of the year. Are movies better now when they don't take themselves seriously, and have no virtual plot? I don't know.
Tarantino is basically a one-hit wonder. I wasn't impressed with many of his films, and yet he's compared to Scorsese and Coppola as a mob-esque directing genius. Tarantino is almost good enough to take tickets at a Scorsese film's premiere.

These are, IMO, among the best films to come out in the last decade. I personally don't care what other people think of Quentin Tarantino, I think the man's a f*cking genius. R-Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, the Kill Bill films, and this new Japanese film he has out, can't quite think of the name right now. It's not really fair to compare Quentin to the likes of Coppola and Scorsese, based on the types of films they make. They are compared, simply because neither of these three directors have ever made a truly terrible, big-budget film. They are each individual masters of their craft, and that's why they are compared. I like Vol 2 better than the first film, simply because it fills in all the plot holes from the first film. And from watching the second film, I now appreciate the first film much more than before I saw the sequel. Awesome movies, just brilliant!
