MONTREAL — Police arrested four suspects Wednesday morning in connection with Montreal Island’s fifth homicide this year, the gangland-style gunshot slaying Jan. 22 of Gaétan Gosselin.

The four suspects are high-ranking street-gang members “who investigators believe were working for the Mafia,” Commander Ian Lafrenière of Montreal police said.

Gosselin, 69, was hit outside his home on one of the coldest nights of the winter, about 6:15 p.m. near Jean Tavernier and Pierre Gaulin Sts. in the Mercier district.

The deceased was once related to Raynald Desjardins through marriage and was living in a building owned by Desjardins’s daughter....
