That was simply when the property's ownership changed. I'm not sure how long the club was still used by the Genovese family up to that point.

I don't recall the exact date, but the Triangle has been shuttered since at least 2001. I was still working in the funeral industry at that time and one of the very first 9/11 funerals that I worked was out of Saint Anthony's, which is on Houston and Sullivan, literally like a hundred feet from the old Triangle. I remember the day well because I was telling a couple of the pallbearers whose club it was, and they didn't believe me. The hysterical part is that they were both cops lol (you get a lot of off-duty cops and firemen doing funeral work, as drivers and pallbearers, here in New York). And now that I think of it, Chin's funeral was out of Saint Anthony's as well.
