Thanks for the info. So genovese guys were still hanging out there up until 2 years ago? Didn't realize it was open that long.
That was simply when the property's ownership changed. I'm not sure how long the club was still used by the Genovese family up to that point.
I don't recall the exact date, but the Triangle has been shuttered since
at least 2001. I was still working in the funeral industry at that time and one of the very first 9/11 funerals that I worked was out of Saint Anthony's, which is on Houston and Sullivan, literally like a hundred feet from the old Triangle. I remember the day well because I was telling a couple of the pallbearers whose club it was, and they didn't believe me. The hysterical part is that they were both cops
(you get a lot of off-duty cops and firemen doing funeral work, as drivers and pallbearers, here in New York). And now that I think of it, Chin's funeral was out of Saint Anthony's as well.
