KLY and DT, thanks for pointing out the practice of the law, its application, and potential outcomes. I would add that the IV amendment proscribes unreasonable searches and seizures, not just any search and seizure without a warrant.

I find it a little amusing though that the Court's ruling in Miranda was a good example of substantive due process (made up)and now have a public safety exception to it.
