Mario Guerreri, they called him the butcher. His name appears in some FBI files I have. He was supposedly a rotten human being

In a wide open city
I'll probably come up with since I love studying the more quiet mobsters who are successful at not getting caught as opposed to the homocidal maniacs (Demeo, Destefano, Tommy Karate) or flashy figures (Gotti, Costello).

How about "Johnny Dio", aka Giovanni Dioguardi, ran the Lucchese rackets in the garment center and was a master at union and white-collar extortion. If it wasn't for the Victor Riesel attack and if he had not been under indictment for bankruptcy fraud at the time, I wonder if he would have been made boss after Tommy Lucchese died. The character of "Johnny Friendly" in On the Waterfront was based off of Dio.

This life of ours, this is a wonderful life. If you can get through life like this, hey, thats great. But it's very, very unpredictable. There are so many ways you can screw it up.-Paul Castellano (he would know)

I thought Johnny Friendly was supposed to be based on Annastasia, or on his brother.
