Alot of people in Ill don't want anything to do with Chicago or it's culture, just as we view them as dumb hillbilles they look at us as "City-boys" and what not. I personally love getting out of the city ever once an a while but can never get comfy out in the boonies. I remember when the state wanted to annex the City. What is wrong with being a city boy? Why are they proud of being hillbillies?

That neighborhood used to be filled with hookers and junkies 10 years ago now its yoga and flavor of the week restaurant. Sounds like Times Square. It had a lot more character when the hookers and dope dealers were in plain view . Yeah but as my uncle said the other day "better hot young women in tight pants than junkies and hookers." I hear that...
"I'll give you undignified. Go fuck yourself. You, Phil... whoever. He's my fuckin' cousin."
"My name is George. I'm unemployed and live with my parents"..

I,m a "city-boy", nothings wrong with being proud of where your from, all i was saying was the people in the rural parts tend to be proud of the area as we are of being from Chicago. So can you honestly say that many of the people in rural Illinois are proud of being labeled with the word "hillbilly" or "redneck" ????

chicagoland is mobtown, each race has their own mob(s) You could say that about other cities besides Chicago. i've never equated all corruption in chicago to the italians and i told u that before. that would be like me saying that people in rockford don't raise livestock
the italians have their mob and they still have good political connections, legit connecions and underworld connections. more italians have city jobs than actually live in the city. There are still some mob-related political corruption, on a limited, local basis. But not to the scope or degree that certain Chicago posters (or contributors on Fosco's blog) allege.

there ain't a such thing as limited political corruption in illinois Oh? So if DiFronzo is able to get a contract from a local township that automatically means he has the mayor, city hall, and a bunch of aldermen and judges in his pocket too? when did i ever say that? the majority of the syndicates crews ain't even located in the city if you want to know who difronzo has in his pocket just look up what's going on politically in elmwood park and the surrounding suburbs of elmwood park

It doesn't have the all-encompassing, pervasive influence like some still claim it does.

In the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's & 1980's up until 1986, Chicago Outfit was more powerful than the three smaller New York Families. Genovese Family, Gambino Family (before Gotti) and Chicago Outfit were the three most powerful groups during those years. Watch the Donnie Brasco Movie which was written by the FEDS THEMSELVES and you can see how pitiful the Bonnano Family is in the late 1970's WHEN THINGS WERE STILL GOOD. In particular, the best scenes are when they show a bunch of made guys cracking open parking meters for money. They were a joke. That was reality reported by the Feds since they are the Bible of these Blogs.

And the book was largely based on one crew in the the Bonanno family during Pistone's undercover work.
