I just remembered I need to cancel my reservations, since I'm unable to attend. I'd love to go, but with no vacation days left and my work schedule makes that impossible.

As for me, if nothing comes up*, I plan on leaving Wednesday morning, spending the night somewhere along the way, and arriving Thursday afternoon/evening. Then I'll be taking a nap.

*There's a slight chance that I'll hear from the potential job I applied to on Tuesday, and if they want me, I'm not certain they'd let me go or not. But I can't see why not. But there is that possibility.

L, I and TIS will be getting there about 3:00 Thursday.

And if it DOESN'T rain, there's a good possibility that we'll be going to a doubleheader (the games rained out by Hurricane Frances MAY be scheduled for that weekend).

Then make them an offer they can't refuse!

There is A CHANCE, but I think it's pretty slim. Since they've been looking to fill this position for many weeks, and, the person in charge took this past week off (so it can't be THAT important), so what's another week, right? And hell, I may not even be offered the job, so... guess we'll find out.

Anyway - I think I have TIS's and SC's cell phone numbers still from last year -- if they've changed, please PM them to me. I'd also like Cardi's and DB's as well, and I'll reply with mine. Hell, PM them anyway to be sure - mine hasn't changed, so it's still good if you have it.

Double-header on Saturday, yeah, I heard that was a possibility - but don't tell Plaw! Tho, I am kinda leary as it is on 9/11 to go to a Cubs game against the reigning World Champs so close to the busiest airport in the U.S. as it is... so, one game hopefully

BTW - the reason for the rainout, Frances -- it touched ground in Stuart, FL -- the EXACT location of my folks' condo. But, Stuart is the mainland, their condo is on Hutchinson Island -- Jensen Beach -- even worse! Geraldo was there all day, I saw on Fox News. Luckily they're still in NJ, but, they plan to go down there next weekend. I sure hope the place is okay, cuz, they were painting and many of the hurricane shutters were OFF!

id reccomend them not to go down to florida just yet because hteir getting hit by another hurricane

Yeah, I saw that - but this one seems to be taking the course of the first one at least, so, (for THEM) it seems better... but not for a friend on the West Coast of Florida who just had to replace her roof shingles after the first one - and who know after the second one - let alone third one!!

You'd have to pay me a lot to live in Florida, except for like December to May. Been there, suffered that (in the Summer, let alone during a Hurricane).

So whose in charge when you and SC are gone? :p

FYI, folks -

For those flying into O'Hare:

The hotel does not provide a shuttle from the airport to the hotel but has negotiated a special fare with the American Taxi Company for hotel guests. American will get you from the airport to the hotel for $20.00. I confirmed that with the cab company this morning.

I have not posted in this thread before because though I will be in town for the Cubs game, I won't be attending any of the convention activities. But I thought this was good information to pass on as the hotel person I spoke with seemed to think the other cabs would commit highway robbery with their fares.
