on paper it says there is one made guy, they don't flaunt or flash who they are. they work behind the scenes and don't make noise. unlike gotti did and a lot of new york mobsters. the paper and wikipedia can say one thing, but eyes will tell truth. the Pittsburgh family couldnt even stand up to the decalvacantes. gotti was a flashy loudmouth but not many others like him in the way of loving being a public figure.never a good choice to show out the way he did.

Ones still operating
Five in NY New England DeCavalcante in NJ Philadelphia Chicago Outfit
Hanging on a string but still viable
Detroit The Arm in Buffalo
ALL OTHERS ARE LONG GONE You can take Buffalo off that list. what evidence to you have to prove that? I'm not trying to be a smart ass I'm honestly asking. None of us honestly know what goes on. But ill state like i have before. everyone thinks pittsburgh mob is gone because they haven't heard from them in awhile. thats the way its supposed to be, thats the way it used to be. the reason i know they are still up and running is because there is a faction in my hometown. I'm just saying the pittsburgh family has a proud tradition and is still around and recognized. As a viable family, Pittsburgh is gone. You won't find it on any FBI list of remaining mob families in over a decade. And there hasn't really been substantial ongoing activity since the 1990's. There would only be a handful of members still alive, at most, anyway. As we know, NY barred them from making new members years ago. To dismiss all this, and say they're just flying under the radar, could also be used to argue the Denver or Dallas families are still around. i wish i could find you guys this article from the pittsburgh post gazette from 2008. It showed the entire Pittsburgh LCN and underbosses and made men. Very good and intuitive. Ill try to post it for yinz. If you're talking about the article I think you are, the one from the Pittsburgh Tribune, where John "Duffy" Conley was the main focus, it did show a spread of members and associates but it was over the years and not just current. Many of the guys on shown were dead. A 2006 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article, entitled "Burgh's mob ties may sleep with the fishes," said the family had been "dormant" for a decade.

Viable family... heck it doesn't even qualify as remnants anymore. Just three made guys left alive, two of whom are rats living in the open and the single non-rat still alive is over 80. When he dies the family will be gone gone, like Dallas.

i dont believe its beyond silly at all, pittsburgh was/has been known to be the quiet family and make the least amount of noise. other than the 1990's where all families were getting cracked down on, pittsburgh has had no public incidents of things happening or major members getting busted. Sonny was in 2000 but received less than a slap on the wrist because he is connected to every official basically in pittsburgh because western pa has one of the if not the highest italian populations. The city of new castle alone per capita has the highest amount of italian descendants living in the city. What did the Pittsburgh family in, like other families around the country, was general attrition. Even more so then indictments. There wasn't much of a recruiting pool to make new guys. And even if there was, the family stopped making new members after a certain point. Almost everybody has died off. People trying to argue the continued existence of other families have done the same thing you have - cited the Italian population in the area. But part a key part of the attrition factor is Italian-Americans becoming part of mainstream society, which includes seeking opportunities in the legitimate world rather than the LCN. The question isn't, "How many Italians are still around?" But "How many Italians are still around that want to be in the mob?" In Pittsburgh, not too many from what I can tell. just for my own piece of mind, can you list all of the active made guys in and around pittsburg, as well as the activities that they are involved in, thanks. The only one I'm aware of is Thomas "Sonny" Ciancutti, who's in his late 70's. Other guys I've seen listed as both made or just associates are Bobby Ianelli, Anthony Imburgia, and Mauro Matone.

Lucchese. Not seen or heard from since the Wonder Boy got off supervised release.
Frank Costello: Fucking rats. It's wearing me thin. Mr. French: Francis, it's a nation of fucking rats.
