This new show called "Alcatraz" premiers tonight. I am just now reading about it and have seen short clips. Sounds pretty interesting. It's suppose to be about police investigating crimes that are committed by people who once were in Alcatraz. Hmmm Interesting no? Btw, I was actually in Alcatraz (No, I didn't serve time) Back around 1972 on a California trip. Interesting, dark and kind of creepy if I recall. I tried to go a few years back but evidently the tours get booked up way in advance. I imagine with a tv show, it may bring more tourist, although I didn't see if it's actually filmed on Alcatraz. Good question Bam. I don't know the year it closed down but it's been a while. I know Al Capone was there (probably the most famous person) and can't think of his name, but the guy Clint Eastwood played in Escape from Alcatraz which is a true story if I'm not mistaken. That would have been years after Capone. I'll see if I can find out famous names. It would be interesting to know. TIS FAQ's about Alcatraz. It closed in 1963 http://www.buysanfranciscotours.com/cityinfo/alcatraz_FAQ.html

SB, I did see it and really enjoyed it. It hooked me right from the beginning as well. The premise of a few hundred prisoners "disappearing" and now reappearing, (having not aged since 62) committing crimes is very interesting. I liked it a lot. Btw, the main girl, her father-figure, I believe was Robert Forster. If I am not mistaken he was in the tv show "Emergency". The heavy set guy I don't know, but read he was in LOST. I never saw the show. TIS

I really kind of like the premise. Sort of a supernatural (time travel) disappearance of these prisoners. I forgot how many prisoners they said (200ish?). Anyway, notice too, that the star (sorry don't even know her character name) saw her father's picture on the wall. She wasn't told he was an inmate. That should be interesting. Btw, you said you had visited Alcatraz and I did many years before you did, BUT it did look like I remember it (whether or not it's a set for the show or the real thing.) Love the shots of beautiful San Francisco. I see the chase scenes and remember the outrageous hills in that city, and can't help but think these actors will get their workout. TIS

Does anyone watch Person of Interest? It's on tonight and then after, The Firm, which if last weeks debut is any indication, I think it'll be a good show. I hate to get too hooked on any show cause usually the ones I like get the boot. TIS

I did see it to. I thought Lowe did a good job portraying Drew as I thought he came off during interviews. Such an unlikeable character. I think he even talked like the real Drew. Oh, and when he's in the bar (after his wife's disappearance) and tells his friends, "I'm looking for wife #5." Slimeball The ending left me sort of let down but I don't know why. Maybe I guess I wanted someone to really kick his sorry ass. Or, probably knowing the ending is more likely. They never did find his 4th wife. Drew maintains he's innocence. TIS

I wouldn't have any clue(and not being a sports fan, don't really care) as to the Jersey's inaccuracies but take your word for it. I can imagine Peterson and his lawyer would think it's inaccurate. but as far as timeline, you would think they would have researched something as important as that though hu? TIS

They just had a story on WGN Radio here that said Peterson thought Lowe's performance was laughable and the movie had a lot of inaccuracies. Stacy's sister & family were also quoted about the mistakes and incorrect timeline. Peterson's lawyer (a real slimebal named Joel Brodsky) says he will use this movie as basis to file a motion that the jury pool is now tainted. He also said when Peterson is found not guilty of 3rd wife Savio's death, he will sue for the way Drew was portrayed. Stay tuned! BTW - In one scene following the days after Drew's third wife Kathleen Savio died, they show one of her son's wearing a Derrick Rose #1 Bulls jersey. Savio died in March of 2004 - Rose wasn't drafted until May of 2008. In a later scene after Drew's fourth wife Stacy's "disappears" in October 2007, both of the boys are wearing Marian Hossa #81 Blackhawks sweaters (jerseys). Hossa didn't sign with the Hawks until July of 2009! I know that it's just a movie and I have waaay too much time on my hands - I admit it! what are you talking about mark? i had a d.rose jersey since 2003 lol its with my cubs nlcs shirt Riiight, Bam... I'm sure your World Championship Cubs jersey is in the laundry basket as well. yes it is, how did you know?

I've been meaning to catch Alcatraz via On-Demand, but my DVR's been getting filled up quickly lately. Anyone catch the pilot for Touch last night? Kind of up my alley, but will see if the series (starting in March) will hold up.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations
