Nothing so sinister. The ring was real. The guy just didn't do the right thing price wise, considering that a mutual friend made the recommendation.

I know nothing about Canada except that they have free health insurance, very cold winters and they haven't won a World Series in twenty years. Not sure about his home in Westchester, either. But yeah, he owned a home in Country Club over by the water.
