You'll notice in that book that Raab cites specific estimates of the 5 NY family sizes in the chapter after the he wraps up the Commission case. He cites the Gambinos as being the largest family. That said, in both his book and his articles, Raab's estimates have always been a little inflated for some reason.

The Gambinos were larger than the Genovese family up to the mid-1990's but only slightly. Since that time, the Genovese family has been said to be the largest. But again, only slightly.

The latest estimates have both families at slightly over 200 members.
