That speaks volumes, unless Vito was just putting on a show (which I doubt).

Personally I think it was a combination of things. My cousin bought an engagement ring off Sciascia back in the early '90s. He got ripped off, to say the very least. No one misses that guy in the Bronx, that much I can tell you.

As far as Canada, I couldn't tell you. Sonny_Black is a valuable source of information on Canada. Maybe he'll come out of retirement and make a post smile.

PB:

If you don't want to answer the following, I entirely understand.

Assuming your cousin purchased the ring at a jewelry store, was John Chiazzese affiliated with this store, perhaps even the owner of the store??

Thanks in advance.

On the theory of Sciascia's killing Lo Presti, the Rizzutos' ordering Lo Presti's murder, etc.: I don't buy it at all. I'll try to find time to post and summarize all the theories about Lo Presti's murder but I'll say at the outset that most online mobwatchers are unaware how stricken with grief Vito was about the murder. This grief wasn't feigned either. Of all the theories, I believe only in the one that argues Lo Presti was killed by individuals attached to the Gambino Family.

On the general theory of Sciascia's being killed on the order of the Rizzutos: I don't buy it at all.

On the specific theory of Sciascia's being killed because he killed the son of a made man in Montreal: Not until Massino mentioned this in his testimony did this theory emerge. What puzzles me is that both the name of the murder victim and that of his father should be fairly obvious, easily researched, etc.; yet no names have come forth, and no organized-crime experts seem to be curious about Massino's "admission."
