Just recently I`ve realised how deep Stanley Kubricks films are. Like how The Shining is about the Apollo 11 mission and Eyes Wide Shut is about secret societies that practice occult rituals.
This is almost impossible not to notice - Eyes Wide Shut is about secret societies that practice occult rituals

Yeah but I didn't know Tom Cruises character was Stanley Kubrick.
Could you elaborate on this please ? I must've missed this maybe it was because i didn't really enjoy this movie. If you're only basing this on the fact that Kubrick was a freemason then that's pretty flimsy.

Am I losing it or is the Boardwalk Empire thread missing?

Thanks DD. I kept scrolling up & down and didn't see it. I was afraid it might have been right in front of my eyes and I still missed it. Why would it have been deleted?
Btw, did you see Walking Dead tonight? I don't want to go to the thread yet cause it's not aired yet here and don't want to know what happend. Anyway, was it good?

It's in the Other Mob Films, TV forum.
Duh!!! Ok, I knew that. I was just testing the mods to see if they are on their toes tonight.

It's that time of the year when Oscar season is heating up and awards are starting to trickle out before the Oscars, the Super Bowl of the movie world, in a few months.
The prestigious New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) voted ZERO DARK THIRTY as their pick for best picture of the year, and giving best director to ZD30 helmer Kathryn Bigelow.
Opening limited later this month, opening nationwide next month. I guess we'll have to include this as another contender.
~As a movie about the Bin Laden raid/assassination, will Obama screen this at the White House? When OBL gets a bullet between the eyes, will he do a fist pump and say "that was me!" ?

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Winter is Coming Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

I remember that feud with Carson/Rivers. I never knew exactly what it was about. I wonder IF Carson ever gave his version (if different than Joans)?
Rivers was hilarious in the beginning but I can't take her today. She's so annoying IMHO.
Back in the day, when she WAS on Carson's show, one joke that stuck with me because at the time anyway, it seemed very rude, tho very funny.
She constantly made fun of Liz Taylor who had a lifelong weight problem. Back in those days McDonalds had a sign showing "millions served" with numbers changing. Her joke was when Liz went to McDonalds those numbers moved like crazy. I don't know. Maybe back then they didn't do as many "putdown" jokes but I did think it was rude. BUT, I admit, I did also laugh.
She was funniest when she trashed herself though.
On a sidenote, Geez, does she need anymore plastic surgery? She looks so fake.

TIS, I also liked this one about Liz: She stands in front of the microwave yelling hurry!
Ha ha ha!! I don't remember that one.

Liz being her target reminds me of the countless O.J. Simpson murder jokes and Bill Clinton screwing around gagas that Jay Leno has told over the years.
Watching Law & Order marathon on TNT. Merle from Walking Dead is in this one.
Ahhhhh Walking Dead. How do I handle withdrawal during this "mid-season break?" LOL

All the cable stations and still bullshit on tv (for the most part)at least right now.
Although I've seen it several time, I still enjoy "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford. Good movie.

PBS is running a documentary titled, "Paesani: the Story of Italian Culture in America. I missed the beginning, but this is very good. Shows Ellis Island immigration, (just like Vito Corleone in GF II), and mostly focuses on Northeast PA towns where many Italians ended up. This is Klydon country, but he's no paesan. Check it out if its in your area.

Every time my wife gets her hands on the old TV remote we are subjected to Christmas tunes being played over and over. She is far to festive far to early
I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees!

MC,
I would have loved to seen it. I'll keep an eye out for it here. A few years ago the History channel ran a story similar called "Italians In America." I loved it so much I purchased a copy and sent it to my parents in their Christmas gift. They also loved it. Sort of sad, this topic comes up here, because in a box of mementos I just received after they cleaned my parents' house out, was that video which I will watch again.
Anyway, IF you here it's on again, please either post or PM me but I also will check my local PBS station.
Thanks MC

Anyone who gets Current TV ever watch a series called "Final 24?" I've seen it in the listings but watched for the first time today.
It tells of the Final 24 hours of deceased celebrity/personality. Now, I am watching Jim Morrison's final 24. They have combination of comments/clips from the person/group and some reinactments, but it is interesting. Coming up (though not sure I'll watch all), Janis Joplin, Keith Moon.
It's not all Rock Stars though. I noticed they had Anna Nicole Smith a couple days ago and Nicole Brown Simpson.
