I am still left wondering, though, why AR would shaft Lucky - an associate of his - like that when he could've been in on the heroin deal right from the off. He turned an offer from Lucky and Meyer regarding heroin down if I remember correctly.
I can only guess at that, but I think that Rothstein was a man who played the odds, especially when they were stacked in his favor. He probably didn't like the chances of the drug dealing to go well from the start. He didn't want to lay out any money on an "iffy" proposition, but since he was able to get $100,000 worth of heroin for free (from Luciano) he saw less of a possible loss for himself.
