Well, he himself would not personally be able to benefit financially from the book, that is a law. However his family might... not sure about that.

I wonder how many people he really killed though. I heard him say 100 or 200. Doubt it's that many but I would guess it's a lot.

I have never read the books but from the documentary he didn't really seem involved in the mafia in other capacities... i.e., while it mentioned he dabbled in a few things, he didn't appear to have any big rackets going on.

Yet he was able to provide a comfortable life for his family.

Which makes me think that it is probable that he was in fact a full time hitman and that is primarily how he made his dough.
