This whole thing gets crazier by the minute. It's like the plot for a bad movie.

It's not just the adulterous affair that led to Petraeus' resignation. That Broadwell had classified documents on her computer, whether they were there from Petraeus or not, creates a breach of security that compromises his integrity and the resulting appearance of impropriety adversely affects his ability to serve as CIA Director. Had he not resigned, Obama would have removed him.

Similarly General Allen's days in command will likely end.

Don't forget that adultery subjects military personnel to criminal prosecution though the charges are selectively ignored usually for high ranking officers. But I suspect he'll be facing a court martial.

A colleague of mine, who is a 1990 West Point grad, wasn't shocked by this as he felt most division commanders, to whom he remains loyal, have a God complex as they are treated daily with reverence and uncommon respect.

Another General in trouble!

A 4 star general just lost a star as punishment for lavish unapproved spending on travels and other expenses, and still owes Uncle Sam back $82,000.

Hubris.

I may have told this story here once.

One of my best friends was Director of the Military Reserves in the Pentagon, and he would have to travel around the world. He was leaving South Korea and had to take a connecting flight in Tokyo. As he was reboarding in Japan, he was stopped by an airline official, who told him that he could not get on the plane with the expensive bottles of Scotch he picked up in Seoul.

My friend was telling him it was ridiculous as he carried it on board for his first flight. The worker still refused and told him to leave the booze with him. Just then a general, overhearing the exchange, moved up in line, got in the worker's face and said, "Son, either the sgt. major is walking on that plane with these bottles in his hands, or you're going home tonight with them shoved up your ass!"

He came home with the scotch.

For decades American males have debated the simple question: Ginger or Mary Ann? (For me it's always been Mary Ann.) Now the country must decide: Broadwell or Kelley?

I read an article earlier in which Broadwell's father insisted this story is about something totally different and that the truth will come out and that this is a smokescreen. He "said" he had to stay quiet per his lawyers.

And the plot thickens. lol

Yeah, TIS, there's still a lot to come out. I'd want to know the exact nature and substance of the threatening emails from Broadwell to Kelley. Broadwell strikes me as an intelligent and cerebral person in charge of emotions. What really set her off to the point of throwing caution to the wind?

And what is really the deal with Kelley? Her reported role as a military volunteer is a euphemism for something far more nefarious. What command did she have over the two generals and the FBI agent investigating the matter.

From Onion. lol
Quote:

Nation Horrified To Learn About War In Afghanistan While Reading Up On Petraeus Sex Scandal

WASHINGTON—As they scoured the Internet for more juicy details about former CIA director David Petraeus’ affair with biographer Paula Broadwell, Americans were reportedly horrified today upon learning that a protracted, bloody war involving U.S. forces is currently raging in the nation of Afghanistan. “Oh my God, this is terrible,” Allie Lipscomb, 29, said after accidentally stumbling on an article about the war while she tried to ascertain details about what specific sexual acts Petraeus and Broadwell might have engaged in. “According to this, 2,000 American troops have died, 18,000 have been wounded, and more than 20,000 civilians have been killed. Jesus Christ. And it’s been happening for, like, 11 years.” Sources confirmed that after reading a few paragraphs about the brutal war, the nation quickly became distracted by a headline about Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash’s alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old boy.

She got them to stand at attention.

The news of her insurmountable debt is all over the place this morning. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that she leaked this story with plans of selling a tell-all to get out of debt.

You can't tell me she was seriously afraid of Broadwell going all Glenn Close to her Ann Archer.

My favorite Kelley story at the moment is her breast cancer charity which spent not one on research but blew all the donated money on parties.

Yup...I assume somebody at the station was trying to be funny. I don't know if it was the producer or not, but apparently he is the one that lost his job.

True. A run for public office would be considered much more politically and socially acceptable than going after the General with a pair of garden shears.

Shit like this happens every so often. Nixon in 72, the Iran Contra thing with Reagan, Clinton with his affairs, Bush with Hurricane Katrina (that was more of a failure of action than a scandal) and now this. No one, no matter how high up in the world is immune from anything.

Classified Informaton found in Mistress's Home

The FBI found a substantial amount of classified information improperly secured on the personal computer of disgraced CIA director Gen. David Petraeus' mistress, the New York Post reports.

"The files were discovered on a machine removed from Paula Broadwell's Charlotte, NC, home as the feds investigated her sordid affair with the military commander whose biography she co-wrote. Investigators also found documents Broadwell admitted taking from secure government buildings, a source told ABC News, adding the government demanded that they all be returned."

It's looking more and more to me like Kelley will turn out to be the bad guy here. And by that I just mean that she's most likely the one with the agenda. When the overly entitled can't afford their lifestyles anymore, you better watch out. They'll sell out their own families to stay ahead of the curve.

Not that Petraeus is an innocent here. He's not. In my opinion he was also extremely overrated as a General. But this whole thing is as ridiculous as Slick Willie's humjob from that homely fat girl turning into an impeachment proceeding.

But that's the twenty four hour media for you. Can you imagine if General Patton was around today?
