I'm sure pizzaboy knows the area, but for those who don't, there's a parkway right across the street (the Belt Parkway) which is elevated and acts like a dam but the water came through a section cut out for Nostrand Avenue.
You know I know that area well, SC.
During my IJ Morris years, we did more Temple calls out of Sheepshead Bay than just about any other part of Brooklyn.
Not sure if you're familiar with Congregation Beth Shalom of Kings on Avenue X and 27th Street?
That place was always doing lots of charity work for natural disasters and such outside of New York. I only hope that people are returning the favor in their time of need (although to be honest, I'm not sure how hard that block was hit).
