At first, I didn't like the way they ended that series. But then, after having thought about it, I figured it was fitting. After all, that was about the most selfish group I'd ever seen, so why shouldn't they end up in jail for a selfish act? I love that sitcom.

As an action film, I could see why Heat is average. If anything, it has one worthy setpiece, the heist, and that comes two thirds through, with still an hour left when it ends.

As a film, I think it's a masterpiece.

I believe that acting is what makes this film a masterpiece. And psychological depth is much more important there than action.

I agree. Some criticise Heat for being an excuse to bring Pacino and De Niro together; if this is the result, I have no problem with it. With only one scene together in which they exchange conversation, they steal the whole film; more than the famous shootout, even, I think.

I also think the music makes the film, and the nighttime shots of LA.

I always considered some of the music to be truly excellent. But it may be my own partiality to Moby...

Play and 18 are two of my favourite albums. I've just been recently listening to Hotel; I think I prefer CD 2 of the 2-disc edition.

Being a pianist, though, do you like his rave days? Piano-playing is evident throughout his earlier stuff too.

That whole courtroom thing was hilarious. I think it was as funny as the case of any other celebrity. Also, that's the price you pay to be a comedian. You abuse and hurt some people as the result.

But come to think of, how could you end a show about nothing? Unless, they end up dead or in prison.

My sympathies, bogey. I've been through a few break-ups (most of which are with my current girlfriend), so I know how you feel. Just give it time. These things tend to work themselves out.

I have to strongly disagree. Physical pain is much easier to deal with than emotional pain.

Yeah, if you have toothache you can easily just chop a leg off to defer the pain. The only solution to love is to dive into a pool full of hungry sharks.

Very often the ache or pain will go away.

But being a loser can last a lifetime.

Not quite so, Pat. It's your own business how and when you deal with emotional pain. The way you take it, and the way you allow it to display, depends on your own attitude only. You can forbid yourself being obsessed with it, you can control it and distract your mind from it. (Yes you can, if you really want it, I know what I'm speaking about.)
But on practical level, it doesn't make troubles swallowing, going to work, etc. Throat is another thing - you can't postpone dealing with it. It just aches and you cannot ignore it simply because you are too busy. If you stop thinking of it, it will not stop aching.
